Gameday 73: Pirates look for series win against the Reds at home
Pirates came out with the victory in first game against Reds
The Pittsburgh Pirates took the first of their three-game set against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday. Rowdy Tellez and Bryan Reynolds hit a pair of doubles on the offensive side of things, and Oneil Cruz drove in two.
Five of the eight Pirates’ hits went for extra bases.
Paul Skenes improved to 4-0 on the season after pitching six innings of one-run baseball, striking out seven in the process.
Aroldis Chapman, Colin Holderman, and David Bednar closed the door behind him as the Pirates pulled within two games of having a .500 record.
A battle of lefties will take place in game two, with Nick Lodolo facing off against Bailey Falter.
