After losing three of the four against the Cubs, the Pirates will play one more series on the road before heading back home.
They begin a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers, who currently have a nine-game lead in the AL Central.
Although they lost three of four, the Pirates kept things close, but just couldn’t put up enough offense to have things go their way. They’ll have Bailey Falter, Andrew Heaney, and Paul Skenes pitch this series.
We miss a potential matchup of two of the best pitchers in the game—Tarik Skubal and Skenes. Skubal is scheduled to pitch on Wednesday, and Skenes the following day in the series final on Thursday.
First pitch for Tuesday is scheduled for 6:40 pm ET.

10 Observations: Bubba Chandler overthrowing? Alessandro Ercolani velocity, Wilber Dotel
Murphy 6/10: Kendrick Herrera had a four-hit day on Monday. More known for his bat, I’ve liked some of his ability to put the bat on the ball, even if the numbers weren’t supporting it. He’s also driving the ball a little more, with one of the hits topping 100 mph off the bat.

Minor-league top performers: Griffin earns weekly honors in Greensboro debut
The Pittsburgh Pirates promoted their top hitting prospect, Konnor Griffin, before the previous week of games started. Going from Single-A to High-A as a teenager, you almost wouldn’t blame him for getting off to a rocky start.

Right on script. Cheringtons get an unearned run on an out, other team gets a two-run HR.
Bradenton with two hits through 8 tonight. Both by Ian Farrow, who replaced Bae mid-game. Second one left the yard.
Sanford’s hit three balls on the nose but he’s 0-4 anyway.
