The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped the first of three against the Detroit Tigers, 7-3. Alexander Canario went 1-3 with two RBI. He entered the game replacing Bryan Reynolds, who went to join his wife after going into labor.
Andrew McCutchen recorded the team’s only extra-base hit, a double. Bailey Falter allowed three runs on five hits and a walk, striking out four over five innings pitched.
Carmen Mlodzinski allowed four runs on four hits and a walk over two innings pitched. He is now 1-5 on the season.
Things don’t get any easier for the Pirates, as they now face Tarik Skubal on Wednesday. Andrew Heaney gets the nod for the road team.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 pm ET.
