The Pittsburgh Pirates took the first of three against the New York Mets on Friday, winning 9-1. Mitch Keller picked up his second win of the season after allowing just one run across 5.1 innings pitched.
Five of the team’s nine hitters recorded multi-hit games, with Bryan Reynolds hitting a home runaway and a double.
Alexander Canario got the start in center field for Oneil Cruz and hit a pair of doubles. Isaac Mattson struck out three in 1.1 innings pitched out of the bullpen. Genesis Cabrera, who was signed on Thursday, pitched another 1.1 shutout innings.
The Pirates will now turn to Bailey Falter to try to clinch their weekend series, while the Mets will have Paul Blackburn on the mound.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 pm ET.
