Gameday 85: Pirates go for sweep of the Mets with Mike Burrows on the mound
Mike Burrows vs Frankie Montas
The Pittsburgh Pirates’ bats stayed alive, and after scoring 18 runs in their first two games of their weekend series against the Mets, they can now go for the sweep on Sunday with Mike Burrows on the mound.
Andrew McCutchen, Nick Gonzales, Joey Bart, and Ke’Bryan Hayes recorded multi-hit days. The offense recorded 12 hits, and six of the nine runs came in the bottom of the ninth inning.
A rain delay cut Bailey Falter’s start short after throwing just 1.2 innings. Braxton Ashcraft stepped in and tossed 2.2 frames of his own, getting his second win of the season.
The Pirates have an opportunity to get a sweep, having Burrows on the mound, who is looking for his second win of the season. New York will have Frankie Montas on the mound, who will be making his second start of 2025.
