Gameday 87: Paul Skenes kicks off weekend series against Mets
Skenes makes 10th start in majors
After dropping two of three against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Pittsburgh Pirates start a four-game weekend series with the New York Mets.
The loss dropped the Pirates to fourth place in the NL Central with a 41-45 record.
When it comes to the Mets, they’ve been surging as of late, even though they split their four-game series against the Nationals previously. They enter the weekend with a 42-43 record, good for third in the NL East and 2.5 games back of a wild card spot.
Paul Skenes will get the start for the Pirates and will face Luis Severino of the Mets, an off-season free-agent acquisition for them.
The first pitch is expected at 6:40 pm ET.

Yesterday’s Feature
It’s been a tough season for Jack Suwinski. Some analytics pointed to this kind of regression, and I dug into what has gone wrong compared to previous years.
Today’s Feature
Mitch Jebb is an old-school contact over power hitter with plus-plus speed. After a rough start to the season, I discuss what he has done better recently and suggest a change to his batting stance.

Pretty sure it's not June any more.
Had to laugh at the video of Reynolds circling the bases. No expression at all.
