I miss WHYGAVS and Charlie Wilmoth's Bucsdugout but I don't think there was any winning when either Pat or Charlie controlled either site. Just a bunch of nonfans running Pirates sites even during the brief Huntington blip.
Charlie left in 2017. He was in charge of BD in the brief but glorious 2013-2015. I can’t remember what brought me to BD, but Charlies and WTMs writing kept me there.
I used to post on a forum site about the Steelers, but would really just talk on the college football section. That's about it. They shut that site down, and I was just never active anywhere else.
I hope someday —- soon —- this will be a place to celebrate Pirate wins. But it’s a tough moment for all Pirate fans to see the team collapse once again and for their to be so little hope on the horizon.
Thanks for all your work. You’ve built a great site.
Evidently, you're not the type of fan that Williams is after. He just wants to fill PNC with fans who come for bobbleheads, fireworks, pierogi races, and concessions. If that's what you're there for, it's hard to leave disappointed. Much harder to please fans who actually care about baseball.
Two years. To the best of my knowledge, the monetary terms are undisclosed.
The prevailing media view is that Cherington will return for 2026. But it's also worth remembering that the Pirates said supportive things about Huntington damned near up to the day he was canned.
Is the cycle we live in, draft and then a year or two later make hypothetical line up of those prospects only to see it never happen and then repeat all over again.
I like Kelly- but I’m a little surprised he pulls Burrows again at 76 pitches. Let the kid go out for the 6th and see how it goes, he had been cruising again
I know all teams do this, but I'm not a fan of taking out pitchers that are doing well that can still go deeper in the game..... regardless of the match-up.
It seemed like Don Kelly pushed all of the right buttons making multiple pitching changes when he first started. Reality is the more pitchers you throw, the more likely one of your pitchers will have a bad day. I think he might be a little trigger happy trying to prove himself.
You hear something? I haven't fired him yet. Even when I eventually do I'm planning on installing some loser like Graves already in the org to take us to the offseason, btw.
Bullpens made the difference, chicago 0 runs 3 hits pirates 8runs 10 hits. Also 13 hits and only 4 runs for the pirates.
Happy late second anniversary to Bucs on Deck!
Thank you to everyone, from those who comment daily to those lurking in the shadows, you all are great!
What a performance to ring it in.
Gotta admire the consistency since the beginning of the site

The BD countdown using uniform numbers to breaking the streak of 20 losing seasons was as fun as a site gets.
Old school Dugout days were wild, old school for me being the 2011-2012 years. Or when ESPN Section 140 still existed for commenting during games.
They were great! I miss Vlad. One of the first statheads I encountered and perfectly grumpy.
Can't say I was ever very active on any other sites (as far as the comment section), but I did lurk around on P2 for the longest of time.
I go waaaay back on Buccos internet to even Onlybucs and before that BuccoJake.
I was on Onlybucs for quite a while.

That would be awesome. This place is obviously more alive during the brief moments the team is doing better. As few and far between as they are.
Thank you for the kind words. Couldn't have done this without Nola, WTM, Ethan, and Ryan. Plus all of you guys that have been along for the ride.
The pirates need a catcher, first baseman, short stop, third baseman and an outfielder all of which can field and hit.
The next heartbreak is they fail to sign their first draft choice. Again this is the pirates so anything is probable.
Other than that Mrs. Cherington, how was the play?
Another great effort by Donnie and the boys!

That's about as cringe worthy as the Pirates.
Wonder how the PRP injection went for Endy?
We need a catcher who can hit too.
Endy's yet to ever hit
I agree we need a catcher who can hit, just not sure it's Endy.
Agree. I wish we had begindy. Or benintendi.
I cannot imagine going to a Pirates game I'm not interested in at all in order to get a cheap bobblehead.
At this point I can't imagine going to a Pirates game period.

It's a generic family experience!
Is it time to talk about next year’s draft, that’s the highlight of every season!
On the bright side, a few more losses like these should be enough to finally get Cherington canned.
How many years and money is he owed?
Two years. To the best of my knowledge, the monetary terms are undisclosed.

Right. NH was really safe until he wasn’t.
Perotto says two years and Dejan says 1. Hard to know.
What does Bob Nutting say, Bob Nutting?
Would that I could
Why? So we can draft another bum like Davis 1st overall?
Or he could be another Skenes.
Even if we could get another Skenes what good would it be. We've had Skenes for 2 yrs now and still suck.
If we have more like Skenes, they won’t suck! I get the frustration, but I’m still going to hope. Why else are we here?
Is the cycle we live in, draft and then a year or two later make hypothetical line up of those prospects only to see it never happen and then repeat all over again.
Idk, the lottery at the owner's meeting in December might be the highlight!
ChiSox are now within 5 games of tying Pirates for 2nd worst record. Could be 4 by tomorrow.
Recheck the standing we are the 27th best team in baseball!
Yep, but two of the teams with a worse record can't pick higher than 10th in the '26 draft, so we got that going for us.
Which is nice, to quote Carl Spangler from Caddyshack.
Another pathetic performance.
What was that about all the great young pitching they had?
Getting punched in the mouth by the listless White Sox is just the perfect touch to this season.
I like Kelly- but I’m a little surprised he pulls Burrows again at 76 pitches. Let the kid go out for the 6th and see how it goes, he had been cruising again
Every single thing in the world is more important than winning today's game for this team: such as it ever was.
I know all teams do this, but I'm not a fan of taking out pitchers that are doing well that can still go deeper in the game..... regardless of the match-up.
I hate it. It's tempting fate and lazy management.
It seemed like Don Kelly pushed all of the right buttons making multiple pitching changes when he first started. Reality is the more pitchers you throw, the more likely one of your pitchers will have a bad day. I think he might be a little trigger happy trying to prove himself.
Donnie Badball needs to believe his lineup card won the game just like all managers in baseball these days.
WTF, I actually step out for a few minutes, I guess I’m glad I didn’t kept my earbuds in.
ChiSox might catch the Pirates, at least the Rockies are still out there.

Hasta la vista, Cherington.
You hear something? I haven't fired him yet. Even when I eventually do I'm planning on installing some loser like Graves already in the org to take us to the offseason, btw.
Atta way Bob!
I'm keeping Dutchboy Bart around until the next GM begs me to can him too!
LOLOLOL
Have yourself a night, Nick.
