There’s a good one that predates Hermansen. The Pirates had another terrible season in 1986, but because the #1 overall pick alternated between leagues they missed out on Ken Griffey, Jr in the 1987 draft. With the second overall pick they chose Mark Merchant, a switch-hitting high school outfielder from Oviedo, Florida. On his first or second day as a pro his manager (I believe it was Woody Huyke) compared him to Mickey Mantle.
Merchant was an outstanding prospect who couldn’t cut it in the pros. By coincidence, he ended up in the Seattle organization in the Rey Quinones trade, and finished his career in the Reds organization.
Incredibly, if the draft rules functioned as they did prior to the lottery, the Pirates would have had Bonds and Griffey, Jr at the same time. The mind reels.
I don't know where Anthony and Jeff are streaming it. I do it the old fashioned way. No box scores. It'd be hard to do that, given the propensity for rolling over innings. One inning the Pirates had two on, two runs in and no out, and they stopped the inning. I think the Pirates' pitchers stayed on for four outs a couple times when they had quick innings. (In this game, the Pirates' pitchers were doing much better than the Jays'.)
His swing didn't look to be as atrocious as people made it sound, not that I know anything about swing mechanics. Super excited about this kid, though I wanted Montgomery, I'm excited to see what this kid can do
Garrett McMillan has been lights out since he moved up to GBO. Today:
4 2 0 0 0 7
Could he “walk on water”? For those who remember….

That’s right. I’m old enough to remember that. I had forgotten the Mantle comparison.
We don't use the MM name. Nope, never happened.
If it was shallow enough.
Where have you gone, Chad Hermanson?
Where are you able to watch the bridge league games? Or box score watch 😅

Awesome appreciate it! Didn't realize the games were so unstructured. Guess I'll just get my updates here!
It's an exhibition game. They had Endy batting in most innings, which of course limited the ABs for others.
Welcome to baseball at the primary developmental levels. Chances they are thinking of getting Endy possibly 50+ AB’s at the MLB level in Sep?
As some would say, "stop watches exist" lol
I even have it on my phone! 🤪

Not a lot to be excited about right now, but I'm really excited about this kid as well
It doesn't look bad, the barrel is under control and he's making contact. Time will tell but he could have a better than average hit tool.
I don't know if they should give him some at bats with Bradenton but I'd like to see it, same with Sanford.
Same, I'd like to see them both in Bradenton maybe the last week just to get a look.
