Dude, Shalin Polanco is so talented. The swing looks good, defensive floor and a toolshed of a prospect. And I can’t believe how bad he’s been.

Being aggressive is one thing, swinging at everything and not recognizing spin is another.

He’s gonna be 21 and I can’t see how you move him to Greensboro next season. I would move him up just as a “sink or swim” kind of thing(and it’s not that big of jump, the biggest jump being High A to AA((besides AAA to MLB))). But he definitely doesn’t warrant a promotion to start next year.

McMillian reminds me of Drake Fellows. Big FB/SL SEC SP. Although I think McMillian’s BB is a CB.

You would think maybe you could have a 5th/6th SP with those guys if the FB ticks up a bit. And if you have them come out of the pen the FB should play better 1/2 innings at a time and be a decent FB, SL heavy RHRP.

Writing while listening and the last I had with Peguero at AAA is 25 doubles, 3 triples, 13 HR, 71 RBI, 12/14 SB. In the field 73 games at SS, 610 innings and a fielding percentage of .968, 41 games at 2B, 328 innings and a fielding percentage of .993.

Last year with the Pirates, Peguero hit for a slash of .237/.280/.374/ 654 OPS as a 22 year old, and fielded .960 in 39 games at SS and 1.000 in 33 games at 2B. This kid should have been playing SS for the Pirates the day after they decided to move Cruz to CF. We cannot build for the future with IKF as the SS in 2024 or 2025.

We still have Williams, McKinney, and MAT on the Active Roster when guys like Peguero, Suwinski, Yorke, and Cook need to be in Pirate Uni's right now.

Funny, Peguero was considered a flop with a .651 OPS. Triolo’s at .591 and Williams .523, and that’s just fine. And Peguero is several years younger than them.

Does anybody in this FO even know enough to look at the back of a bubble gum card?

I don't get it either as I think Triolo will be a good utility player but doesn't have the upside that Peguero has. In Triolo's defense, though, he did put up a .732 OPS in August and has a .699 (let's just call it .700) OPS in the second "half" (not really half and a SSS). But that makes me more frustrated about how they've handled Peguero--he hasn't been given enough PAs to have his "second half"--Triolo now has 572 PAs , Peguero 217. There seems to be different standards for how long a player gets to prove himself.

He was very young coming from the D'Backs for Marte, and when the Bucs were in a panic last year, they called him up after only ~30 AB in AAA. I thought he acquitted himself very well - at the plate and in the field - for being so young. He fielded .960 at SS last year at the MLB level, and when they moved Cruz to CF he was fielding at a .939 clip. Why put IKF at SS? Peguero needs to be at SS ASAP and then figure what we do at 3B, 2B, and 1B to prepare for 2025.

Did Peguero like make a terrible impression on Shelton or something last year? I just don't get not giving him another look.

Possibly justifying the IKF trade? I like IKF and think he could be a solid veteran presence for Peguero. Wasn't too long ago that IKF had some exc numbers being the primary SS for Toronto (I think). But this team is young and having some younger position players is where we should be heading. IKF is 29 and the Pirates may not even want to keep him for 2025.
