I saw an article with somebody saying they should be in on Cease but never mentioned they are actually in on him. I am a little worried that is the source.
I'll go out on a limb here and say that including Peguero as a afterthought in a trade is the first mistake and trading him at all is the final mistake.
We might be working on a trade with the Padres, apparently they have room and a lack of depth on their 40 man (several spots open). I heard they are working on a trade with a team in the NL central and Ben likes to deal with them.
I can’t imagine who would be coming back to the pirates from the pads. All of their big deals have no trade clauses. The only one that doesn’t is Suarez and I can’t imagine we trade for a reliever.
I'm thinking it might be a way for the pirates to get some value instead of just dfa'ing a couple guy's. Apparently the Padres have around 7 spaces open on their 40.
I think this a reverse of that type of trade. Bucs need to clear from their 40 and Padres have openings. That would trigger Pirates receiving non 40 man rostered players in return for our 40 man player. That won't help this years team, but if we can trade vs. expose to waivers, then it should be done.
Just talked with a friend in the D Backs organization, he heard the Padres are trying to pull off a trade with a team in the NL central was wondering if I knew any rumors on the pirates lol. I wonder if bmac's sources have anything???
Let's not forget the never-mentioned Ryan Borucki as a sleeper for 2024. Not an ace by any means, but was a solid 1.5 war starting pitcher in 17 starts with the Blue Jays 5 years ago. He was a lights out 1.4 reliever with the Pirates in the bullpen last year (40 innings, 26 hits, 4 walks, 4 homers). However the Pirates decide to use him, I think they could stretch his innings for sure.
Isn't Dreker a soft tossing lefty? Did he even get an invite to spring training. He even grew up in a town that was graced by Dots Miller. I mean, come on man.
Now what in the hell did he do in 2022.
He had a great cutter, even though it was one of the worst pitches in MLB in 2021 and 2023.
Rumor that we are in talks of a larger trade? Could it be the one melkel is talking about?
I hope we are, as long as we're getting quality back!
Just saw that we are rumored to be in on cease

Wonder who we would have to give up?
Would termarr be too big of a center piece? I think skenes would be a no go
Personally I wouldn't include Skenes, Termarr, Bubba or Solo.
I think Jones as the headline with 2 of Priester, Ortiz, Holderman or Ro' plus 1 of Peguero, Bae, TonyG or Cheng
Maybe a lottery ticket as well.
I would go 3 of the second group if they like the others more than Jones.
If we would have covered 1st base and CF with better upgrades, I would have considered 1 of Bubba or Solo or if Cease would agree to an extention lol.
That's fair and certainly much more ideal, im just not sure if jones is a big enough center piece to make it happen. If it would, all in on that!

That would be nice if we would have upgraded 1st and CF with more certain players.

Better to pick up some int'l money or a low-level lottery ticket than lose a couple guys off waivers.
I agree, but would placing Endy and Oviedo on the 60 day DL open a few slots? Obviously we cannot do that now, but I wonder when?
Can’t put them on the 60 day til pitchers and catchers report in Feb I believe. Trade would be good
Pirates, Andrew McCutchen Reportedly Agree To One-Year Deal
$5M
woot woot walla walla
Any ideas if the Padres are talking with Ben?
its Musgrove
for Lahnnnie and Yordahhny
I'm thinking Bae, NickyG, Ortiz, and a 40 man reliever or 2.
that would be a steal and a salary dump
throw in Peguero and get back gold glove Kim

Haha, and that's even after getting Tucupita back.
It be nice if we did a quantity for quality in our direction for once. We give up 5 borderline players for 1 or 2 quality prospects lol.

Well that makes more sense than what I was thinking…hopeful me was looking for a MLB piece
That's good to get Cutch back, but I hope we have a good trade in the works since I believe we are now at 42 players on the 40 man.

yinz are going to bellyache when we fetch Tatis
I'd love it.

He will give them some innings for as long as he is on the Pirate team...

This is a reminder to all present to teach your kids to pitch left handed.
$8 Million
No better indication of how little value clubs believe a manager provides.
The Pittsburgh Pirates could have the highest paid manager of all time for the annual price of one Marco Gonzalez.
lights out left from the bullpen
need moar swing guy pitchers
