My professional scouting service projects Gorski to be a future softball player. However, "we" have been wrong in the last like when we predicted that Roansy Contraras would become the Pirate's Pedro Martinez....just slightly off on that one. Given our past inaccuracy, I reached out to GMBC advising him to give Gorski a shot at 1B. Could he be any worse than Tellez? Haven't heard back yet.
Jack's an easy player to like. I know this may sound a bit too simplistic but he always seems to look for certain pitches way more then a hitter with his easy power should. I really wish he would concentrate more on expanding his zone and just making contact.
I agree with that, I'd really like for him to choke up and slightly open his stance (coming slightly in on the swing). He hits so many hard balls foul down the right field line, I think it would keep some fair and he doesn't lose much power if any choking up but has better bat control.
He fluctuates fairly often, he hasn't been nearly as open this year that I've noticed, usually about a half foot, but doesn't come back in like he has in the past. It appears to me, I could easily be wrong, that when he starts open the closes in his hip and shoulders stay more in line to the field. When he opens up he crushes the ball foul quite often.
The homerun he hit off Tallion is close to the stance he should focus on. I'd still like to see him a little more open coming in and always choking up like that at bat.
I wouldn’t fault them for giving Gorski a chance once (if?) Tellez is sent packing. However, I still think Lamb will be the choice. He’s a lefty and fulfills their platoon fascination better with Joe at first. Gorski is getting older though and it is kind of make or break time to see what he can do for this team.
I expected Hilson’s stay to be shorter in Greensboro considering his age/performance there thus far. There is a bit of a logjam of underachievement in Altoona’s outfield however…
I’m curious, do you think that the right hitting coach you propose will change his whole swing? I don’t see how else he could be fix! That said I do hope he gets a cup of coffee someday soon.
I think the right coach could have a big difference rather quickly. I'll look at some more of his at bats, but from my memory, his biggest problem stems from his lower half. His bat to ball skills are actually impressive considering his lower half is always moving towards third base even on outside pitches. By keeping his lower half in, he shouldn't have to buckle over to reach outer third pitches. He might need to start his swing from the load a bit faster to handle inner third pitches a la Aaron Judge, but he might not, depends on how good he can bring his hands in. Again in my opinion, fix his lower half and it might "straighten" his swing right up. Less head movement, greater reach and finding the barrel more often. He hits a lot of balls off the end of the bat currently.

No Suwinski in Indy yet. Must’ve gotten that last minute holiday PTO approved…
Probably working on his swing in the “back fields”. I’m a fan of his, so I hope he figures it out.

That’s an interesting observation. I’m struck by how open Suwinski’s stance seems as-is

I agree with PirateRican21 you're hired, lol.

A guy who can play first and center with home run power would be nice, lol.
Gorski seems like the right hitting coach could unleash a monster, kinda of like Justin Turner.

You’re hired.
How much does it pay? Lol
A buck O nine. Before taxes.
Since it's the Pirates don't build your dream home yet, lol.
The key being the right hitting coach and I'm fairly sure Haines and Shelton aren't right, lol.
Correctamundo!
