I'd love to see our local kid make the show, even if only to give him a chance. My guess is he'd K a lot. But he already does that. I'd love to see him in September when there are more prospects pitching than any other time of year. He may be decent against lesser competition?
Gorski's no savior, but there are two months left this season and I think for at least August, Gorski would outperform Jack until everyone knows precisely how to attack those holes. There's simply no way a team that still considers itself a contender can keep putting Jack out there. Also, Olivares is 27 already. There's no good reason to have him on the 40 man and Gorski off it, IMHO.
Having Gorski on the 40 only matters if they want to promote them. As long as they are both in AAA there is no difference in how they are used based on their 40 man status. If they choose to promote Gorski like you recommend then Olivares is an obvious candidate to be taken off.

I would release Olivares and put Gorski on the 40 man.
Pirates brass must know he has hole(s) in his swing that MLB Pitchers would expose for them not to at least give him a chance by now.
