I was actually getting kind of hopeful about him even during that bad start. He has a good swing and makes hard contact. Not the usual slap-hitting MI IF.
You don’t see a lot of guys stinging the ball consistently at that level and he’s still only 18. For a while he was probably one of the league’s better hitters. I don’t know what happened late in the season, but the slump started immediately after he missed a few days with an ankle injury he got on a play at first. I’m hoping he opens next year at Bradenton.
Not sure what they see in him but it must be something or else he would stay in the DSL for two or three more years.
