Stephenson has been decent for them too, wouldnt mind a win-win swap here. Bullpen help would be nice for right now but williams being an above avg regular could be such a big boon for us moving forward
I know this doesnt fit the thread, but i wonder what our plan with choi/santana is moving forward? Any 1B needy teams could take them for cheap, but i wonder which, if either, is more likely to stay in a mentorship role
I really think the reds are going to be a problem for us for at least the next 5 years, so I cant think of any better way to assert our dominance than to beat their AAA club! Just kidding, kind of
I feel that way as well, they also have enough high end prospects to pull another pitcher or 2. It's one of the reasons I could see the almost unthinkable Trading Keller and Bednar. It would have to be an overpay and only a few teams have the prospects to pull it off (Dodgers, O's and Rays).
It'll likely be about another year, but it's looking like it's going to eventually turn into a battle our developed pitchers vs. their developed hitters at the big league level.
Thing Reds have going for them, as I feel we will next year with pitching, is they'll have another kid waiting if one slips. Noelvi Marte already in Triple-A mashing, after even calling up CES. So many IFs that India is on the block. With Pirates, they'll have Cruz back (at some point), but if someone struggles, their options are back to the old struggling options.
I think you are right. Also, their pitching is pretty much at the big league level already with greene, ashcraft, lodolo, abbott, etc. vs our hitting is pretty much here with cruz, endy, reynolds, davis, etc. so we will see if their 2 year rebuild beats our 5 year version
And we'll see what develops, but their pitching is largely so-so. Abbott has been fire, and Lodolo can't stay healthy. Our Ashcraft is much better, but theirs and Greene are appearing to struggle with some of the issues I believe that's held a lot of our pitchers back, at least the ones that have reached the majors so far.
Abbott seems to really be pitching out of his ass in a way that he didnt in the minors until this year, so im hoping it might not be real but each passing start makes me worry that it is
I know a lot of the analytic heads are somewhat dumbfounded by how well he's done (haven't looked to see if they've changed their minds, or seen shift in stuff). They thought he'd see more pushback in Triple-A.
We could use some of that in our system! I know they took that guy from driveline to shape their pitching development, so who knows if hes their first big win
Ke begins rehab assignment, any other news of promotions in the org?
Sightler, Loeschorn, and Diamond all promoted to Greensboro. Massey to Development list, which is probably a paper move.
The move we have all been waiting for!!!!
It's definitely a Sightler to see....
I'll leave now.
Perfect timing with my Sightler article coming out later this week
Woah Termarr just annihilated a ball in the first. That was majestic!
108 off the bat, wow! Hes been clicking for a few weeks now
Anyone know who is starting for bradenton or greensboro tonight?
Chang for Bradenton (just promoted from FCL). Not sure of Greensboro as of now
Not sure if they are keeping the same order as last week, but Jake Stevenson started in this spot last week.
Sounds like alika is coming up, which makes sense given marcano's injury
He was probably the first name that popped into my head. After seeing the injury last night, it looked season ending.
Sending marcano all the best on his injury, but alika has been red hot the last several weeks so feels like nows a good time to give him a shot
Be nice to steal one from the Rays. Been since probably the Corey Dickerson trade.

It would definitely have to be one hell of a deal, and I dont know that we will get that, like you said

Yep, and I like those odds.
Anyone notice how far over their skis the Reds' bats are rolling right now?
I count 7 hitters with at least 100 PA and a wRC+ over 100. 5 of them currently enjoy an actual wOBA more than 30 points above their expected wOBA.
That was the exact same warning flag behind the unstoppable April Bucs, so we'll see who can improve enough to keep the regression demons away.
