Mackey seems to think either Endy or Davis will be traded for pitching. Neither have proven themselves enough to be worth much right now and would have been worth more before callup imo. Are small market GMs just forced into dumb situations like this or is it just our luck as Pirates fans to get UMass Amherst dolts who own goal constantly?

I don't think Mackey isn't being particularly kind with that kind of speculation.

I could see something like Bieber, DeLauter, Josh Naylor making some semblance of sense but I also hate giving up that many years of a 1-1 pick who's had so few MiLB PAs for two older guys and a OF prospect with a weird swing who's not gotten to any power in MiLB despite the gaudy OBPs.

I’m guessing this will be a “busier“ week, I’m guessing at least one fairly big trade and one legit FA signing.

Define “legit.”

As the Pirates would define it, someone making more than $5 MM yearly.

I say let's throw our predictions out there now and see who comes closest. And furthest away. Or not. Don't want to seem bossy.

This week the Pirates will sign Donovan Solano for 3.5 million per year on a one-year deal with a club option for a second year at 5 million and Noah Snydergaard to a major league deal for the league minimum for one year.

I'll bite with zero confidence. They will sign a starting pitcher - I will officially guess Manaea with Fedde as the non official guess. I think they will NOT sign a first basemen yet as I see that as a January thing. So that will be my official entry. Other things I think may happen but I don't have names. I do think they will take a pitcher of some type in the Rule 5 draft and there will be at least noise on a trade for a SP but it won't be finalized next week.

I’m like 100% wrong on every prediction I’ve ever made, but that is not gonna stop me! Peguero to the Marlins for one of their lefty starters (Rogers/Weathers.)

Think one of the middle infielders to the Marlins for a starter seems fairly reasonable. Blackburn of the Athletics seems reasonable too.

The Rogers from a few years ago. Luckily I had that Rogers on my fantasy baseball team. I saw some article on another lesser Pirate sight proposing Tank for Emerson Hancock.

That's an absolute heist for Seattle. Hancock BTV surplus = 3.8. Davis = 31.2

Delay for Hancock is a fair trade.

Oneil Cruz is hopefully entirely healed and ready to lead the Pirates this year. However, the only MLB-legit backup at SS is Liover Peguero. Cannot see the benefit of that trade.

What, you don't like watching Alika Williams and his 9 inch pythons get the bat knocked out of his hands over and over?

Of course not, but if we are not gonna paid for the going rate for a starter we have to give up something....is a gamble, if Cruz plays the way we hope then Gonzales, Williams or even Triolo could back up SS.🤞🏽
