With the obligatory observation that it’s Jurassically early for mocks and rankings, but if the top 8 went that way, gimme Montgomery or Burns. I may or may not have chosen between these two for a Simpsons joke.
It's a deep class for 1st basemen, I like a lot of the top guys. Even round 2 and lower has guys like Blake Burke out of Tennessee, Ethan Anderson out of Virginia. I wouldn't mind them going for a prep 1st basemen like Costello(Lsu) from New Jersey or Davis(Louisville) from Pennsylvania. I think Davis is from the same high school as Lonnie White Jr.
He can cross off Malvern Prep same as Lonnie White Jr., he's committed to Louisville and he doesn't wear batting gloves like Henry Davis. He's also a two-way player LHP/1st base saw a couple scouting reports that he has double plus power hitting. He's kind of a mix of our first 4 picks from 2021.
The last I remember from the BA Top Prospects the LHP/1B from Florida is at #5, and the DH/1B from LSU is #10. Not sure where the Pirates may decide to go with 1-9, but a lot will depend on what we see out of RH hitting 3B/1B Malcom Nunez who had a big year at AA with the Cardinals in 2022 before being traded to the Pirates and doing well with the Pirates. Injuries cost him a lot of 2023, and it looks like he may start at AAA in 2024 as a 23 year old.
Pirate’s sign martin Perez.
I heard that we are in as a sleeper candidate for yamamoto, sleeper as we are still asleep after he never called us back
Be a curious experiment to see how much we would have to overpay to have a shot at him.
Maybe the sleeper fantasy app will add baseball, and you can have Yamamoto on your team!
We hit the snooze!
BC’s has an auto-snooze button. It activates at the last out of the WS and lasts five months.
Snooze, that probably cost extra!

You know Smithers, I'd give it all up, for just a little bit more.
Saw Burns when he was at Tennessee and he can throw some gas - if I am not mistaken, he was up near triple digits in HS up in middle Tennessee.
He’s also transferred to Wake, which has become quite the pitching factory. I’m intrigued to see what he does this year there.
I think he'll go top 10, because he transferred. Wake might have 4 top 10 picks.
Our future 1b might come out of this draft, is early for mock up, but there’s an usual amount of 1b on top of the draft.

Costello was committed to Pitt but switched to Lsu. Florida State also has a potentially good 1st basemen committed to them, can't remember his name.
Davis from Louisville, BC does like to draft same names to confuse the fan base on where we are at in the rebuild.

Uhh no batting gloves.....one of my pet peeves about Hank. Wish he would wear a pair.....don't know what we are paying the coaches for.
I was never big on using batting gloves in games unless it was raining. I always liked the feel of the bat in my hands.
I would wear them in the cage and when it rained or it was really cold but only occasionally in game action.
If he's catching, his hands will be taking more of a beating. The gloves will offer a better grip for sure.
