Morning Rundown: Anthony Solometo to the IL, Grasshoppers come from behind
Anthony Solometo hits the IL, Matt Ager makes his pro debut, Grasshoppers complete big comeback
The Altoona Curve announced that left-handed pitcher Anthony Solometo was placed on the 7-day injured list, retroactive to April 16.
Solometo, 22, was off to a strong start to the season, allowing just one earned run in two starts that spanned 10 innings pitched. That was coming off a rough 2024 season that saw him post a 5.37 ERA across 70.1 innings pitched.
Derek Diamond started in his place on Friday, allowing five earned runs in 2.2 innings.
Altoona also placed right-handed pitcher Cristofer Melendez on the 7-day injured list, retroactive to April 16.
The Pittsburgh Pirates’ sixth-round pick in 2024, Matt Ager, made his professional debut for the Bradenton Marauders on Friday. He walked two while striking out three batters over three innings.
Left-handed pitcher Victor Cabreja went four hitless innings, allowing just a walk and striking out four.

After falling behind 7-0 in the second inning, the Greensboro Grasshoppers chipped away and eventually won on a walk-off single by Javier Rivas in the bottom of the ninth.
Rivas went 5-6 and sparked the eventual comeback with a grand slam. Lonnie White Jr. hit a two-run, game-tying home run in the seventh inning.
I’ll have more on the game in my ‘Live Reports’ feature later today.

Bednar back. Probably Nicolas headed out.
An awful lot depends on Shelton staying out of bot mode. It’s like giving an AK-47 to a 3-yr-old.
If Rivas figures it out it would be an amazing win for the organization, it’s a SSS and it’s A+ in a sand box, so odds are against, but 🤞.
