"Of the four hitters who saw a drop in isolated slugging, only Damon Keith and Endy Rodriguez were substantial drops. Perhaps this puts Rodriguez’s down season in a new light."
Endy gained 3.6mph on his 90th% exit velo but *dropped* ISO.
I lean towards that mostly being a function of performing way over his head last year in the power department (.322 ISO in AA, lol come on), but hey a boy can dream.
Watching Adolis Garcia do what he has done the last few years and in the play-offs says some guys have had the talent all along but come into their own in their upper twenties. Garcia was DFAd by the Cardinals at age 28 and another resason I hope the Pirates keep Andujar. Neil Walker talked pretty highly of Andjuar from the the time he played with him in New York. He said there isn't a pitch Andujar can't hit.
Who could’ve predicted the Astros stealing the AL West crown from Texas on the final day of the season would be such a big deal for Texas, not Houston.
Houston won more than 50 games on the road, and less than 40 at home. Makes you wonder why Dusty even tried to win the final game.
As for tonight, hoping for Dbacks to prevail, but expecting for Phillies home crowd to overwhelm the whippersnapper AZ is using as a SP.
I think the Dbacks cinderalla story would be fun to continue, but I fear they would lose a very one-sided WS (though they made it this far so what do I know)
Congrats to the Texas Rangers for having the smarts to hire Chris Young as their President and GM in Dec 2020. And also congrats to their ownership who decided to spend the money to be able to compete financially in the AL West. And, back at them again for allowing Chris Young to pursue Bruce Bochy to manage the Rangersand lead them to the AL Championship and World Series. Bochy is the roadmap for such a talented group - he won three WS Championships in 2010, 2012, and 2014 as the Manager of the SF Giants before retiring in 2019.
Interesting that the AL was a battle of experienced managers in dusty vs bochy whereas the NL is two relatively less experienced guys in lovullo and thompson
Interesting indeed. Even though Thompson is less experienced, I feel he is an old school type manager. It seems like the teams that are heavy on the analytics do a good job over 162. The old school managed teams have the advantage in the play-offs.
Playoffs definitely require much more feel because the small sample size kinda throws all the number stuff out the window. The numbers can say what should happen but not what will happen. Very interesting to me that thompson took over the phils in the middle of last year and they have been playing so much better since
I wonder if the Phillies aren't just one of those teams that don't start playing at their peak level until there is some urgency. (Kind of like some of the NBA teams.)
That's a pretty decent thought. Kelly had been on the interview list for Manager for a few openings before accepting the Bench Coach job for the Pirates. I think many who know his story thought he would have been the Manager for the Pirates already.
Question - how can the Mets and Brewers both be looking for a Manager? I thought Craig Cousell was a lock for the Mets.
Both pitchers cooking early in this NLCS. I am surprised, I figured at least one would be out before the fourth
Yadi apparently set to become a coach with the Cards. Will he get to call balls and strikes from the dugout?
Buy low on Mr. Rodriguez:

Is this for Endy? Darn BA paywell stopped me from an exciting article yet again

Lol ok no way he's anything near that iso, but I would imagine he has some more in the tank than he showed this year. If not.... oof
Bingo. Not sure I see the tools for more than an average league bat, but even that's a big improvement over his rookie campaign. It'll come.
League average bat from the catcher position isn't all that terrible of an outcome tbh

Regardless of if the dream dies tonight or not, the future looks bright for them.
And given how AZ, Balt, and Texas have gone from MLB laughingstocks to title contenders in a couple years, has to make BC think Pirates could be next.
I sure hope so!

sources say he is french and everyone is pronouncing his name wrong
Sounds like hank and palacios have both been at driveline already this offseason
...go on...
This all I got: https://twitter.com/RotoClegg/status/1715441586065023122
Heard about it on NS9 but no other sources tbh
Astros looking for a manager now too
Astros, Giants, Padres, Mets, Brewers, Indians, Yankees
I say we trade shelton to the astros for yordan
Or a $2 Starbucks gift certificate. Whichever works.
gotta think Kelly (and Neil) are in a shit or get off the pot mindset
think Hinch goes to Houston and Kelly manages the Tigers in 2024

No one thinks Kelly would have been the Bucs manager already except you, Mel.
i did - i figured year 4 (last year) would have been the two of them switching roles
Wouldnt be surprised with stearns going to the mets but dont know that its official
Nice watch on You Tube - "10,874 Steps in a day with Bench Coach Don Kelly."
Kelly for skubal swap, im in
Kelly and Haines for scooby doo.
Brandon Pfaadt vs. Ranger Suarez. Whoda thunk it? Baseball continues to amaze.
Suarez has the track record, but Pfaadt has gotten the job done recently. Going to be a fun game!
Anotha game 7 tonight!!
I am Groot!
