Morning Rundown: Braves sign Jurickson Profar, MLB Pipeline Top 100
Braves make a signing, Pipeline to announce Top 100 today.
The Atlanta Braves have signed free agent outfielder Jurickson Profar to a three-year contract worth $42 million on Thursday.
Once the top prospect in all of baseball, Profar has carved out a decent career in the majors, especially as of late.
He had a career season in 2024, hitting .280/.380/.459 with 24 home runs, 85 RBI, and 10 stolen bases while putting up a 4.3 fWAR.
Profar, 31, will join an Atlanta outfield that also features Michael Harris II and Ronald Acuna.
MLB Pipeline will announce its Top 100 prospects for the 2025 season Friday night at 7 pm ET on MLB Network.
Their last updated list had five Pirates on it—Bubba Chandler, Konnor Griffin, Termarr Johnson, Braxton Ashcraft, and Thomas Harrington.
Baseball America released its initial Top 100 for the upcoming season, and three Pirates were featured: Chandler, Griffin, and Harrington.
Chandler was the seventh-ranked player overall.
Pipeline had been rolling out their Top 10 prospects at each position, with Chandler among the best right-handed pitchers and Johnson with the second basemen.

We have monthly and yearly plans available, with the latter costing an average of $4.16/month.
According to Cot's, the Projected 40 man Salaries for the NL Central in 2025:
Chicago Cubs - $179.8 mil
St Louis Cards - $146.6 mil
Milwaukee Brewers - $108.2 (11th of 15 in the NL)
Cincinnati Reds - $104.6 mil (13th of 15 in the NL)
Pittsburgh Pirates - $ 81.6 mil (14th of 15 in the NL)
Only NL Team spending less than the Pirates is Miami. We are $23 mil behind the Reds and $26.6 mil behind the Brewers - why are the Pirates so far behind teams representing Metropolitan Area's that are equal to the Pittsburgh Metro Area. With possibly a Top 3 Rotation in the NL, the only add of a hitting starter during the off-season was the trade to get Spencer Horwitz for 1B.
Any of you awake out there, do yourself a favor, and pull up MLB TV for the interviews with Josh and Richie Palacios. They did a free clinic at Abe Lincoln HS, Coney Island NY with a lot of kids who do not usually get the opportunities to work with MLB Players, or attend the camps that can be very expensive. Two kids who grew up in Brooklyn and giving back - great story. Josh had an excellent year at AAA - .860+ OPS and provided a good LH bat when called up.
