Morning Rundown: Bubba Chandler, Termarr Johnson named to All-Star Futures Game roster
Two Pirates' prospects added to Futures Game roster
MLB announced the All-Star Futures Game rosters, and a pair of prospects in the Pirates’ system were selected to participate.
Bubba Chandler and Termarr Johnson will represent the Pirates in the Futures Game during the All-Star break.
After a tough start to the season, Chandler has been dialed in as of late. He’s coming off back-to-back starts with double-digit strikeouts. He has some of the most upside in the minors.
Johnson has had a solid, not spectacular, season with Greensboro. Having just turned 20 last month playing in High-A, the former fourth overall pick has seven home runs, 13 stolen bases, and a wRC+ of 117 (before Tuesday’s game).
The Futures Game will take place July 13 at 4 pm ET.
The Pittsburgh Pirates ended the rehab assignment for Henry Davis, who is still dealing with recurring concussion symptoms. He hasn’t played for the Pirates since June 14.
He had recently joined the Altoona Curve to begin his rehab, but after just two games, they decided to end it. Davis is back with the team but wasn’t activated.
It’s been a tough season for the former first-overall pick, as he’s posted just a .502 OPS in 29 games this year. He had a brief stint with Indianapolis to try and work on things, returned, and struggled again before going on the injured list with a concussion.
Altoona Curve activated C Abrahan Gutierrez from the 7-day injured list

If Jared Triolo could hit a lick this would be a great time to sit Ke'Bryan down for a month with Hank. Somethin ain't right with them.
Only watched the highlights from last night’s game, but it appears Mitch had trouble putting away hitters. Several of the hits he gave up were after two strikes, including both HR’s. I wouldn’t say either pitch hit out off Mitch were bad pitches. I’d categorize them as good hitting, especially the GS by Gorman.
Definitely need Jones to come out and throw a gem tonight. I have no confidence in the offense being able to get to Mikolas, even though he pretty much sucks.
Lastly, if Grandal starts tonight, we’ll know for sure he has pictures of DS that would be an embarrassment if released publicly. Jeesh!
