I've been saying that for a month. Hayes is actually 4 for his last 11 so maybe he will get going. I hope Reynolds doesn't have a let-down after his big hitting streak. He is 3 for his last 21. He carried us for a month.
Only watched the highlights from last night’s game, but it appears Mitch had trouble putting away hitters. Several of the hits he gave up were after two strikes, including both HR’s. I wouldn’t say either pitch hit out off Mitch were bad pitches. I’d categorize them as good hitting, especially the GS by Gorman.
Definitely need Jones to come out and throw a gem tonight. I have no confidence in the offense being able to get to Mikolas, even though he pretty much sucks.
Lastly, if Grandal starts tonight, we’ll know for sure he has pictures of DS that would be an embarrassment if released publicly. Jeesh!
Do you actually think Shelton makes up the lineups? I look at how controlling BC is and see a GM who wants to be on a daily hook-up with DS regarding everything from soup to nuts about the daily activities of the team and especially the lineup that DS considers using for that night's game. It's one of the reasons Shelton is still with the Pirates. And, not sure BC has not offered some in-game advice from time-to-time.
Grandal is being paid $2.5 mil for his -0.3 fWAR. Jason Delay is the resident Pitcher's Catcher - the guy they have been throwing to in ST and in the minors since they were drafted or signed as a FA. If Joey Bart had more games, he would be a close second. Options for Grandal are being a LH DH, DFA'd, or injured. His trade value is non-existent!
Thanks to Bubba and TJ for bringing some positive PR for the Pirates.
How do you know your first paragraph is true? I'm not defending the bad results or interesting lineups, but what have we actually seen that says the GM to Mgr relationship is any more or less controlling here vs. other teams? There absolutely needs to be communication. Just wondering as it seems to imply a lot of inside information as I am not sure how we can know this from the 'outside'.
I heard a manager a few years being interviewed and was asked how he decides his batting orders. He said it is whatever the computer spits out and gives to him.
I am guessing BC, Shelton and the analytic team all share their input and decide on a line-up collectively. If so, I wonder who has last say.
Not sure Pitch Keller had his top cheese last night.
And... Things I think I know? I think I know that BC is not going to go get us a bat. He believes someone will magically transform or get hot. While any of these guys are capable of getting on a streak, we need one dependable bat that is consistent.
If Jared Triolo could hit a lick this would be a great time to sit Ke'Bryan down for a month with Hank. Somethin ain't right with them.
can put nick there and Peguero at second base

That is all.
