FYI. When I see any response from you to ANY of my posts in my inbox, I will instantly delete it (incl this one) without reading it. Your ridiculous agenda has gotten extremely tiresome. So ‘save your breath’ for someone who actually GAS what you say. I don’t. You have some issues you need to deal with, son.
If the Pirates roll into year five (!) of this rebuild with a rotation consisting of Keller, Oviedo, cheap free agent (Velasquez?), and some blob of the remaining options tried this year...then have some "oooooh just you wait until June" BS going on. Hell and no.
And even calling Oviedo a reliable SP at this point is still premature. It's a mess...and the impact of Roansy falling off a cliff and literally no one else being able to step up and secure a spot. I don't understand anyone calling this "the 2012 to next year's 2013"...I just don't see it.
Could be a better person than a pitcher. Prior to the draft I went back to his HS achievements (athletic and educational), his ability to earn a spot in one of the Service Academies, and the ability to have 2 plus pitches and most K's in college baseball. Not really looking for anything this year other than for him to stay healthy.
Bubba Chandler has definitely shown his talent when concentrating his efforts on pitching only this year, and I would not be surprised to see he, Anthony Solometo, and Paul Skenes in AA together next year. Season ticket sales for Altoona in 2024 should be strong!
Jared Jones, who just turned 22 a few weeks ago, has placed himself on the list to make the Pirates Rotation in 2024. Possibly not to start the year with only 11 Starts at AAA so far in 2023, but I would not count him out. At AA this year in 10 Starts, 44.1 IP, his BB/K/9 was 9.5/3.2; at AAA in 11 Starts, 59.1 IP, his BB/K/9 is 11.8/4.2. Improvement while advancing to a higher level stands out!
I know it is very subjective picking the top hitters in games, but for Indy yesterday, rather than Gonzales, I would have picked Grant Koch who had the only 2 RBI's in the game won by Indy 2-1, and 2nd would have been CSN who was 2-3 and also walked twice. Hunter Stratton looking good in the Closer role for Indy.
Let’s hope Jones has more success than that other ballyhooed AAA SP, Priester. I’d to start seeing some of Ben’s Boys do well at the MLB level. None are setting the world on fire or are they coming close.
I see Jones and I think of Spencer Strider. FG downgraded him slightly because he is only 6'1, but Strider is only 6'0". Strider averages about 98 with his FB, and I think that Jones would be near that right now (although 3 years younger), and both have plus Sliders. Batters have to cheat to catch up to Strider's FB which leaves them victimized by the off-speed. If I do anything with Jones over the off-season, it would be to watch games pitched by Spencer Strider
Would have loved to see them in concert. I ask people if they could have their own version of Woodstock who would be the three performers? Like Fieuxstock. It's a tough question for music lovers. Give it a go.
CATCH22…..

will spend all our marbles on Gerrit Cole trade
lots of folks counting on VV coming back. I wouldn't bet on him being very durable/good after this TJ-Lite surgery.
You know that's exactly what they're going to do. Although, I'd guess they sign VV and another cheap starter.

I mean, I could live with Oviedo as a 5th starter. But, as we stand, he's #2
The lack of pitching dev outside of Mitch should be sounding all kinds of alarm bells on Federal Street.
Skenes more than just the #1 pick. Apparently, he’s a heckuva guy!

Luke Brown, the other Louisville Slugger.

Always a foolish idea to compare a prospect to a guy who is already one of the better pitchers in the league. Lordy.
Strider has every bit of two grades worth of command and 2 mph worth of fastball on Jones, but they're similar *types* of pitchers I suppose.
I have high hopes for Jones. And it appears he is capable of striking some one out more often than not. My song of the day.

Always liked the guitars floating down that stream.

I liked the version by Matthew’s Southern Comfort (and that lp) best. But, it is a tuff choice.
