Morning Rundown: Florentino promoted to Bradenton, Offense quiet in another Pirates lose
Florentino plays for the Marauders, and the Pirates lose again
Edward Florentino was promoted to the Bradenton Marauders from the Complex on Saturday, jumping straight into the lineup and batting fifth.
He flew out to right field in his first at-bat, and finished 0-3 with a strikeout and a hit by pitch.
In 28 games with the FCL Pirates this season, Florentino hit .348/.440/.652 with six home runs and six stolen bases while primarily playing in the outfield. He also posted a wRC+ of 189.
Mitch Keller allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.2 innings pitched. He lowered his ERA slightly, going from 4.08 to 4.02, but that wasn’t enough to keep him from falling to 1-10 on the season.
The Pirates outhit the Rangers, 5-4, but went 0-8 with runners in scoring position. Oneil Cruz (sacrifice fly) and Henry Davis (RBI groundout) drove in the only runs of the day for the Pirates.
They will now try to avoid a sweep, with Bailey Falter set to face off against Jack Leiter.

Jason Mackey’s morning column is about BC and the need for him to be fired. In short Pirates have the worst offense in MLB over his 6 years. He is now in year 2 of wasting Paul Skenes. Read it for yourself, but most on here could have written it for him.
Only the Pirates can have a Starting Pitcher rated by Fangraphs as the 16th best SP in MLB with a 2.1 fWAR and have a record of 1-10. It's damn hard to lose 10 games and still have a 4.02 ERA. Any team out there in need of a SP for the stretch run should be analyzing what it would take to get Mitch Keller, and our group of front office DA's better be looking at what could be available to help the Pirates try to look like a major league franchise in the very near future.
Last I looked some contending teams in need of SP help - Dodgers, D-Backs, Bluejays, and Orioles.
