With Sale going down and the Braves already thin on pitching, would a Heaney for Kelenic (who is struggling mightily but has the skills) be a good trade? Throw in Pham? Ha!
Hmm let's see - Heaney is a +0.7 fWAR for a kid who has struggled as a hitter with a -0.5 fWAR currently. And the Pirates may be better than the Braves to identify why this kid is not hitting? You want to make this happen - have the Braves throw in Nacho Alvarez.
A better possibility is making something happen with the Dodgers for Mitch Keller. They take him and we get 6'3" 185 LH hitting OF Josue De Paula, 20. I think he is at AA where he is hitting .270 with 9 HR's, .866 OPS that includes more Walks than K's.
There is no doubt that you are buying low on Kelenic. I also don’t have a ton of faith that the Bucs’ coaches will turn him around. And I would do the Keller for De Paula trade you suggest, and it does not rule out a Heaney-Kelenic trade.
That all said, you’d be giving up 1/2 year of Heaney for 3+ years of Kelenic. If he was killing the ball, you wouldn’t get him for a Heaney rental.
Jason Mackey’s morning column is about BC and the need for him to be fired. In short Pirates have the worst offense in MLB over his 6 years. He is now in year 2 of wasting Paul Skenes. Read it for yourself, but most on here could have written it for him.
Only the Pirates can have a Starting Pitcher rated by Fangraphs as the 16th best SP in MLB with a 2.1 fWAR and have a record of 1-10. It's damn hard to lose 10 games and still have a 4.02 ERA. Any team out there in need of a SP for the stretch run should be analyzing what it would take to get Mitch Keller, and our group of front office DA's better be looking at what could be available to help the Pirates try to look like a major league franchise in the very near future.
Last I looked some contending teams in need of SP help - Dodgers, D-Backs, Bluejays, and Orioles.
Florentino is a top100 prospect?
where is he on ur top 25?
We didn’t have him because we dont usually list DSL players. Try to wait till we can physically see him.
WTM and I have seen plenty of him in person. Nola and I have watched streams
Updated list (expanding out to top 30) will be out this upcoming week.
He’ll be on there

It's amazing that he's still here. Just more proof that Nutting has no clue about baseball or just doesn't give a crap.

Seems almost impossible, but the Pirates last 20 hits are singles. And with their RISP woes, the outcome is usually…. not good
Another in a long, long line of Cherington Horror Stats.
I think for sure he'll be traded just because of how much money he is making. Expensive for this crap organization but a bargain for 26 other clubs.
