Morning Rundown: Giancarlo Stanton hits 3 home runs, Pirates blown out
Pirates lose 12-0 at the Yankees.
On Wednesday night, the New York Yankees blew out the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-0, thanks to three home runs and eight RBI from Giancarlo Stanton.
Marco Gonzales had a rough night. In 3.2 innings, he allowed nine earned runs on 10 hits and two walks.
While fighting for a rotation spot, Quinn Priester also had subpar outings, allowing three earned runs on four hits and two walks in three innings pitched.
The offense also went quiet, only managing to put together four hits. Oneil Cruz and Ke’Bryan Hayes both his doubles, with Andrew McCutchen and Bryan Reynolds picking up the other two hits.
Bailey Falter is the expected starter for the Pirates on Thursday, as they will face the Toronto Blue Jays at LECOM Park. First pitch is expected around 6:05 pm ET.
The Pirates have five more games left in Spring before they start the regular season with a four-game series against the Miami Marlins.

Rooting for Honeywell…went to the game last night and got to see some fan interaction from the bullpen, dude is a riot! I honestly didn’t even know who he was bc some of the guys don’t have names on their jerseys. He hardly warmed up, came in and got two quick out to end the fifth.
Marco was just throwing BP, absolutely nothing on his FB, making his change useless. He's going to be in the rotation due to no other options.
I'm rooting really hard for Priester, seems like a really good guy. That said, he can't get MLB hitters out...It almost looks like he's aiming that sinker, and you can see it really well coming out of his hand. I don't see a scenario where he has success right now. At this point in time, they have to give one of the final spots to Jones. The other spot is probably down to Ortiz and Falter. Hopefully Skenes checks the boxes and is up sooner than later.
