Morning Rundown: Giant Roster Shuffle In Lower Levels
With the FCL season over, and the Marauders soon after, the Pirates make some mass changes in the system.
With the Florida Complex League season over and done with, the Pirates have moved a few names up to Bradenton for them to get a chance to get their feet wet at the Single-A level for the last week of the Marauders schedule.
Joining the Marauders for the final stretch will be;
Javier Rivas
This will be the tall shortstops second stint with the Marauders, playing 46 games before being sent back down to the FCL. He showed some power potential in his bat, but struggled heavily with the swing and miss, striking out 38.9% of his plate appearances.
Esmerlyn Valdez
A player I talked about in the FCL Recap, the 19-year-old Valdez lead the FCL lineup with six home runs, and totaled 16 extra-base hits in 40 games played.
Antwone Kelly
Another player featured in the FCL recap, Kelly pitched mostly out the bullpen, but still finished among the leaders on the team in innings pitched. He also pitched one inning for the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic.
To make room for those three, the following players were placed on the Development List;
Yordany De Los Santos
He certainly showed flashes, and looked like he was turning a corner before crashing again. He’s just 18-years-old, and there is a shot some fatigue played a factor with him down the stretch.
Juan Jerez
He’s been hovering around Bradenton the last couple of years and hasn’t really done much with the opportunities.
Miguel Fulgencio
The lefty had a fun pre-draft story, going to college for football originally before switching to baseball. I saw a report about his slider getting 3,000 rpms of spin before the draft, but never really saw anything close to that.
Altoona Makes Moves Also
In addition to the moves between the FCL and Bradenton, Altoona made a couple on their own. Lolo Sanchez and Will Matthiessen swapped, with the former being activated and the latter being placed on the Development List.

DSL rubber match today for the chip! (I believe it's only out of 3?)
