Yordany De Los Santos, 18, has a big future ahead of him. First time off the Island professionally in 2023 and hit for an .860 OPS in the FCL while fielding .957 at SS. Struggled, but was not overwhelmed at A with the bat, and maintained a strong glove fielding .968 at SS for Bradenton. FG rated him as our 12th best prospect. They graded his FV at 45, which they state is the equal to a mid first round HS player, and describing him as having "premium bat speed". Will not turn 19 for about 6 months!
Should we start to refer to him as YDLS 2 or YDLS-SS, and to Yerry De Los Santos as YDLS 1 or YDLS-P?
I had not read the writeup by Fangraphs regarding his rating as our 12th rated prospect, and was kind of surprised at the level of involvement they have already done regarding his performance and numbers from the DSL. Be nice if he progresses as projected and we already have Oneil Cruz, Liover Peguero, and TJ in the MI mix.
Now Altoona needs to add Bowen! Maybe a few others too like Tres, Brannigan, and maybe Sightler (if he's not hurt too bad). After this week so you get to enjoy first lol
Bowen and Tres should get the promotion, although I don't know how they can crack that star studded outfield. Probably the only reason they haven't been promoted yet lol.
Brannigan has earned the promotion. Part of me says keep Sightler in high A, just coming back from injury this year, I'd hate to see him over matched and finish on a low note without time to adjust back. Maybe a couple games right at the end of the season, just to get a taste.
I feel like they should be able to develop a 40/45 here and there into something more than a 40 man casualty. They're hardly developing them into being successful in upper minors, let alone cup of coffee worthy. Their hitters are stalling out in Double-A.
What looked so promising at the start of 2022, to today is almost a black hole. I guess we got a lot of homeruns from Suwinski. Not counting Andujar or Palacios triple A stats and Mitchell's 2022 line in Indy.
If Skenes is pitching tonight up in Erie (is that confirmed?), I'll be in attendance.
He's listed as pitching

Definitely excited to see what next year brings for YDLS! Could be a guy that really takes off next year

Let's just nickname him Cooper or Coop.
When asked how old he was, his response was..
"I'm EIGHTEEN!!"
DSL rubber match today for the chip! (I believe it's only out of 3?)
Bring home a banner!
already getting blown out =/
Lining into triple play is usually not a good thing

The state of upper level OF depth cratered
That’s what happens with 40 and 45 prospects.
And aren't able to develop them further
Or they weren’t that good to begin with. If a team has a handful of 40 and 45 OFs in the upper minors, how much should we reasonably expect from them?
