Great outing by Jared Jones at AAA with a 6 IP 1 hit shutout on only 83 pitches. Same with Shortridge and Cruz at AA who combined for a 6.2 IP 3 Hit Shutout with 11 K's. Cruz alone struck out 8 in 3.2 IP!

The Gorski watch continues. With the winning HR last night he is one HR away from a Triple 20 season in that he has 21 SB, 20 Doubles, and 19 HR. He's 25 and has the speed and power to possibly be an excellent contributor at the MLB level. Why he is not getting a look in CF right now with the Pirates is confusing to me. He had 9 OF Assists in 2021 and 6 OF Assists between A+ and AA last year. In 2023 he has 9 OF Assists playing all 3 OF positions. He bats RH and looks like a Tight End.

Gorski having an OBP under .300 with most of the year at AA is concerning to me. The Ks arent terrible but I wouldnt say its some big mistake that he is still in the minors

Gorski repeated AA this year at age 25 and effectively regressed. If the defense is above average, he’s prob a platoon CF at best, assuming his splits are traditional. That doesn’t have to be bad; it would actually pair well with a player like Suwinski if they insist on him being a CF. I just don’t see any reason for him to be in the show at this point, and I would be surprised if they roster him before Rule 5 based on their previous decisions.

He did struggle more than expected at AA this year, but posting offensive numbers close to 3 -20's is unusually good, especially combined with excellent numbers defensively in a position of NEED (CF). And he has been very hot at AAA since the promotion.

Are the Pirates content to enter 2024 with Jack Suwinski and Ji-Hwan Bae as our CF tandem? 'Ski is an excellent defensive CF; Bae not so much. Reynolds will handle LF, but Joe is not an OF, 'Cutch has the Achilles issue, and Palacios is already 28. CSN? Possible for a corner OF position. Fraizer or Lolo?

Can we think a CF will appear on the FA market we can afford? Doubt it. Tough decision.

The issue with both Suwinski and Joe is that they are platoon players getting everyday ABs. Pair them together and you have an all-star caliber RF.

I would like trying to trade for Pache from Philly, he's an elite CFer with questions about the bat. It appears he has improved with the bat some, but very small sample size. He should be relatively cheap to aquire.

I don't think that they will have to trade for him if they really want him or certainly won't have to trade much: maybe a DSL no name. I think Philly picked him up as a defensive sub for their post-season run and will release him in the offseason to make room for a guy needing rule 5 protection or a free agent acquisition. I would just wait and see if someone claims him and if not, then offer him a minor league deal rather than use up a 40-man spot for him. Although he would be a better use of a 40-man spot than some of the guys the Pirates have now.

Yeah, Jones looked great. I saw 97mph more than once on the 'K highlights' video from last night's game. That's impressive this late in the season IMHO. Gorski get's a +1 as well.

Reading BA's Best Tools and they picked Kevin Williams of the Guardians as the Best Prospect and Best FB in AAA IL. Probably deserving, but with only 9 Starts at AAA I would have thought Jared Jones could have been close with 5 more starts (14), a 3.74 FIP, and 2 years younger than Williams.

BC is very proud of Jones, his 2nd Round pick in 2020. He may not start the season out of ST, but I think he will be up before May.
