I guess they are trying to find any and all ways to lose games. As bad as the pirates are there are still teams with worst records. How is that possible. I doubt this team as presently constituted can win three games in a row.
They’re increasingly having trouble with the last several spots in the pen now that they’re playing good teams. The opportunity they’re missing is using those AAA prospects in relief, especially Burrows. Gonna be lots of mop up innings for a team with no offense.
We should be accepting the fact the Triolo and Rafael Belliard have the same role and and value to the team as defensive specialist and stop anticipating anything more from Triolo’s bat
Triolo is superior to IKF in this role because Triolo has superior defense
Triolo is superior to KeBryan in this role because he plays more than just third base
Triolo has a place on a winning team but the problem is the compulsion to give Triolo additional starting playing time when a starter like Nick gets hurt. We shouldn’t disrupt Triolos core competency and also shouldn’t disrupt our expectations of him when injuries happen
Imagine owning a business worth $1.35B. Imagine your management team performing worse than the industry average 6 years in a row, with several years among the worst results in the industry. Imagine watching several significant business expenditures fail. Imagine your senior management team having several PR disasters. Imagine your stockholders openly campaining against your business.
Loaded AAA rotation and yet we keep running mlod out there and we have holes in the offense. Let's get rolling with some roster moves to improve the mlb team. Trade 1 or 2 guys for a hitter
I agree on the Mlod comment but IMO only one of our loaded AAA rotation has shown he is ready. I don't see how Bubba couldn't be better. But just because our AAA rotation is talented doesn't mean they have shown they are ready. Ashcraft teases some and was very good in his last outing but how many innings can he really go this year? I'd like to see him (or any of the what is now 4 with Barco) put 3 games in a row together that says I can consistently get AAA hitters out and I am not walking too many.
The FIP is so deeply flawed as to be almost worthless. For one example, it treats a 112 mph line drive the same as a swinging bunt that trickles down the third baseline. Many other flaws as well.
A far better measurement is statcast xERA. By that metric, Mlod has a 5.07 xERA, in the bottom, 5% of all pitchers That is a much more indicative number.
Was curious about this one. My thoughts: a .398 BABIP with a roughly league average EV probably won’t hold up. Strand rate is also low. I wouldn’t dismiss the xFIP figure wholly.
He can always blame the awful offense on the price of eggs. Nuttin doesn’t have very high standards when it comes to the credibility of Birdbrain’s excuses.
Cherington's trades have been lopsided when there was no reason to feel a sense of desperation and I worry about how bad they'd be when there is (or should be) reason to feel desperation.
Have to give Tatis credit for creating the winning run in 9th. I highly doubt any Pirates player makes it home on that wild pitch.
Speaking of that wild pitch, why is Bednar throwing a curveball in that situation? The chances of him bouncing that pitch are significantly higher than any other pitch. Make him beat you with 2 outs. Bad baseball.
That 9th must have felt especially good to Tatis after getting plunked the night before. Dynamic player, but we also had a dynamic player on base in the 9th but played it conservatively.
Maybe just coincidence, or maybe a difference in mindset.

Santana activated Nicolas optioned.

Noticed that both Hall and Stewart are sucking in AAA. At least BC made a good choice to not roster them as our 1B man.
What was Fulmer throwing at Indy, a whiffle ball?
Really.....we don't need to back-date IKF's IL time.
You really want to see Jared Triolo?
We should be accepting the fact the Triolo and Rafael Belliard have the same role and and value to the team as defensive specialist and stop anticipating anything more from Triolo’s bat

Need to start batting cutch behind O’Neil instead of reynolds

Then imagine doing nothing.
All this imagining is making me nauseous.

I probably wouldn't deal Bubba but any of the other 4 can go for a AAA hitter(s) that pretty much mlb ready.
Honestly, I don’t know how much better bubba would be. Mlod has a FIP in the mid 3’s.

Hold off on the trades for a week or 2, maybe Cherington will get the ax.
I don't see BC getting fired. He's doing exactly what Bob wants. Plus he can use the excuse that injuries have dragged the offense down.
He can always blame the awful offense on the price of eggs. Nuttin doesn’t have very high standards when it comes to the credibility of Birdbrain’s excuses.

Yep, we don't need another BDLC.
BDLC was acquired because he was the cheapest outfielder on the market.
These are the kinds of things that happen when you have no money.
It would have been nice to trade for Jazz, but he cost too much.
It’s not like they traded away good prospects.
I agree he was the cheapest, it was also a desperation trade at the deadline as well.

His steal of third was equally important.
Bednar can't be sleeping on that. Triolo or Frazier need to be keeping him close.
Yep, bad baseball in the 9th.

Yep, if Cruz was on second, there might have been an open spot where Reynolds lined out.
