This is a kid with a partial year when drafted in 2019 and missed all of 2020. Anytime they unlock the gates he's on the field, and I tend to like dirtbags like that. His rate of K's was 27.5% at A/A+ in 2022, and 24.3% this year at A+/AA - trending in the right direction. And, he is showing better power as the rate of K's is declining.
Yes, the ALCS has been a good make up for some bad Wildcard and divisional series. Im looking forward to game 7 tonight. Would like to see Arizona force a game 7 too.
Really dont want the astros to be back in it again, so big time pulling for the rangers tonight. Not the most confident with Scherzer on the hill though
Me neither. Would really like to see the Rangers make the WS too. Just to see something different. But yea, like you said, I’m not confident in Scherzer right now.
Plus, Javier becomes Cy Young in the playoffs so not the best matchup. Worst case, I feel like would be Astros vs Dbacks because that would be over in 5 games at most imo
Jase Bowen has truly impressed in the AFL. He had an excellent year at A+ (15 doubles, 4 triples, 23 HR, 88 RBI, 24 SB) and earned a late season promotion to AA where he started well. Then the AFL where he has established himself as a defensive toolshed (CF, RF, LF, 1B), and one of the best hitters in the AFL which is loaded with a lot of top MLB prospects. His slash of 359/462/625/1.048 OPS is indicative of a RH hitter who can hit for both average and power - tied for 1st in hits with 23, tied for 9th in doubles with 4, tied for 3rd in triples with 2, tied for 4th in HR with 3, and tied for 2nd in RBI with 15. It would be an understatement to say he is seeing the ball well! Congratulations to him!
And, at a position of need - CF. Bae proved he can play CF better than 'ski, but both are LH hitters. This kid has shown that he wants it badly, but only 30 AB in AA! You mentioned the R5 - probably only 2 or 3 weeks before the club has to post it's 40. Bowen was a HS draft in 2019, so he would not be R5 eligible would he?
No, he's Rule 5 eligible. He's been in the system for 5 years. I wouldn't protect him because I don't see him sticking on an MLB 26 man for an entire year.
Another factor is that he profiles as a UT guy. Off the top of my head, UT guys aren’t big R5 targets unless they play SS. Although he DOES play CF, which has value.
Jase Bowen reminds me of JaCoby Jones.
what starting pitcher are we going to receive in exchange for this guy Bowen?
Definitely think his most value to us is via trade, find some team that puts a bunch of weight into AFL performance and not all the K's beforehand lol

Good point here Mel!
Jordy Mercer
you want to keep him?
Hoping both playoff series go 7 games since we had such an abbreviated first few rounds

I feel like if I had to pick right now, the Phillies probably win it all. Pitching and hitting been too good. Not sure if even the Astros can keep up
Game 7 for them tomorrow!

If this is his opportunity to win a roster spot before R5, he’s certainly jumped on it.

He’s a tough call, but I think they’ll take that gamble.
Yeah, the fact that he's only had a cup of coffee above A ball.
