Deep thoughts...

I want the Pirates to sign Roki Sasaki primarily to have Shelton to give up his jersey number (17).

Why, because Shelton hardly ever wears an actual jersey.

Here's my new idea that definitely wont happen:

Rumors that the Red sox might move Devers to 1B since his defense is terrible, which either makes Casas expendable or a DH. Could be a good young guy swap for one of our pitchers...

Trade idea

Johan Oviedo to Cleveland

For Juan Brito, Franco Aleman

and maybe Kahlil Watson

I think more likely you see Oviedo for Naylor. I don’t love that Naylor is a one year guy but his bat would definitely play at PNC

Naylor's bat would be nice but the one year of control would be more poor asset management.

He probably has about $7 million in surplus value or so, so basically a 45 FV guy and a good chance the value gets split into 2 guys though?

Naylor's value at $7 million right? Oviedo should be $15 to $20 million in surplus with at least 3 years of control.

Might be able to get Naylor, Brito, and Aleman for Oviedo and Delay.

Yes. Naylor at $7 MM. Agree on Oviedo.

Brew Crew signs old friend Jared Oliva.

Today is his birthday. I had to mention him this morning on my history page. Probably the first time I thought about him in exactly a year.

Snell signing with the Dodgers brings us that much closer to signing Roki Sasaki

If the Dodgers sign Sasaki maybe the pirates can go in on Frijol de Mantequilla. Big guy, good contact rates, hits hard, and can take getting hit.

There's a strong resemblance between the 3.

if we signed him, that $7mil would come out of our international draft budget and not the yearly offseason budget

And the Dodgers got Snell for 5 years

Snell to Dodgers on a 5/162. Can’t confirm Manfred popped champagne in MLB offices at the news.

Reported $65M is deferred money. Something's gotta be done with the long-term mortgages the Dodgers are using to sign whoever, whenever. The rest of MLB just watches.

A Rotation of Ohtani, Snell, Glasnow, and Yamamoto so far. Confirmation that their offer to Soto was probably more of a requirement rather than an actual attempt to sign him.
