Jebb hasn't played short this year and he really wasn't very good at it going back to his college days. He's moving off the dirt, he's playing nearly 3 to 1 in the outfield. I think it's a good thing, he doesn't really have the hands for second or the arm for short.
He can fake it at second, most of his problems are on exchanges on double plays, which he can improve. His speed and lack of arm strength plays better in the outfield as long as he hits the cutoff man.
I would like us to be able to afford Kiner-Falefa next year, but if he keeps this up he might just price himself out of the Pirate's market.
To answer your question, none of out triple A shortstops (Peggy, Alika, Cheng) are taking the bull by the horns. Jebb might be next in line, even though next year might be a year too early for him, imo.
I guess I’m just operating under the assumption that he will be traded and based off of his comments doesn’t really wanna be here again and probably will get a multiyear deal
I think this was the quote, "IKF con't, reflecting on his time in PGH: "(Derek Shelton being fired) is just kind of like icing on the cake with that. This is not what I envisioned coming into getting traded here last year...Since then, everything’s kind of went downhill. It’s been terrible, to be honest."
I honestly didn't do the most double checking here but I believe this was true
I think it was during the worst of the losing streak, not sure if it was pre or post the don Kelly era starting but still a pretty damning set of comments
I have constantly been saying. "The more relievers you throw, the better chance someone will not have his stuff." Well that didn't apply the last 2 games. Two nights ago 4 relief pitchers without and earned run. Last night 3 relief pitchers without an earned run.
Curious to see if Hank starts today. Or if Sullivan gets the Sunday start. Don’t think Sullivan would have ever caught Skenes. I’d roll w Hank and let Sullivan catch Burrows tomorrow.
Plus Henry has such an old school attitude. When Hannah asked Henry after last night's game, "How good does it feel to help beat the Phillies two in a row?" He responded, "We have another one tomorrow."
So with Hank Davis’ recent offensive surge and his obvious to the eye defensive improvement, he is at 0.9 bWAR in only 26 games, 76 at bats. Meanwhile Joey Bart with his season-long lack of power and defensive struggles is at 0.1 bWAR in 44 games and 146 at bats.
In short, Davis should be the regular catcher even after Bart returns from his injury.
Davis apparently rising from the dead is arguably the biggest Pirates story of the season so far.
Frazier showed him a drill to keep him from opening up. That’s why you hear Rock on the broadcast talking about how Hank is using his hands more in the swing and keeping his bat in the zone longer.
I saw Moreta pitch 3 times in Indy. Twich he looked fine and once he looked bad. I think he is ready to come up and hold his own. Not sure if he is ready to dominate like he did when he was at his best as a Pirate. Last week, I am pretty sure none of Holderman, Oviedo or Mayza was at Indy.
I stand corrected for Triolo lol
Is mitch Jebb our SS next year?
he'll fit in with the rest of the no hit utility players cherington has acquired
Griffin.

Well damn. For some reason I thought he had a solid MIF glove and I was justifying his hitting approach by combining the value of the two

Mitch Jebb in double A .280 avg 0 hrs 15 rbi's 17 sb .374 obp .702 ops
Kiner-Falefa in majors .304 avg 1 hr 14 rbi's 9 sb .351 obp .732 ops

What were his comments?

Wow. Sounds like either he has an attitude problem or the organization has a culture problem. I'm leaning more toward the latter.
I think it was during the worst of the losing streak, not sure if it was pre or post the don Kelly era starting but still a pretty damning set of comments
Yeah I wouldn’t think it’s him. Maybe not the best idea to air those thoughts publicly, but hard to argue he’s wrong.

Stat it up mon frere

I'd roll Hank as long as this message board keeps saying they hope this is the real Davis from now on.
Plus they’re facing a LHP and Sullivan bats LH.
If it’s also the case that tank is taking Coal like mattson and turning him into a diamond then look out wow
Happy for Isaac Mattson. Great moment yesterday for him. Hopefully there will be more for him. ❤️

I love the Tank part about guidance.

We all know what a save is in baseball, but Mattson really saved the game last him. Great article. He is a very inspiring person to many.

This alone makes the Adam Frazier signing the biggest offseason pickup if he is really to credit for the swing change.
Then what about O’Neils accomplishments as a result of Pham?
Did Cruz learn to talk shit to fans?
I assume/hope that you are being sarcastic. Pham has had nothing to do with Cruz’ performance this year.
A bunch of the story coming into the year was that Cruz wanted Pham signed and Pham seemed up to mentoring him some
I am a voucher.
What do you mean by that? I did not hear that story.
Frazier showed him a drill to keep him from opening up. That’s why you hear Rock on the broadcast talking about how Hank is using his hands more in the swing and keeping his bat in the zone longer.
Frazier straightened out tanks swing
probably time to move griffin and taylor up. bring up florentino to low a
Morning---any chance we could get an injury update? Moreta, Holderman, Oviedo, Mayza?

Oviedo was at Pirate City on Saturday.
I think Sunday’s are injury update and GM weekly address day.
Usually is, yes.
