A's want defense at 3B. We should try and offload Ke'cantplay Hayes. I've got Baseball Trade Values queued up and it thinks:

Ke'Cant Hayes

Luis Ortiz

Matt Fraizer

$12M cash to pay down some of Hayes' anchor

for

Tyler Soderstrom

I like it, then figure out how to get Mauricio and Baty from the Mets for Oviedo and Peguero.

That sounds great. Sort of makes Triolo expendable too. They should try a 3 year/$36M for Ha-Seon Kim to take SS.

I'd keep Triolo, he's a very good bench guy. Good defense around the infield, decent baserunning, and a bat that has more potential than Alika. I think Kim will want a pillow deal this year or opt outs on a multi year contract.

And Triolo is cheap still.

To date, Derek Diamond is 5th in the AFL Pitching Stats - 0-0, 2.70 ERA, 10 IP, 7H, 2BB/ 11K. The Pirates drafted him in the 6th Round of the 2022 Draft, and should be set to join a solid group at AA next year.

On the other side, Sammy Siani is 9th in the AFL Hitting with a slash of .408/.482/.592/1.074 OPS. Well rounded at the plate with 3 doubles, 2 HR, 12 RBI, 6 BB/9 K, and an excellent fielding 3 position OF. In AA this year he had 7 OF Assists and only 2 Errors.

A corner IF with a 75 wrc+…how can Cherington resist?

The scary possibility is Eloy Jiménez, who just became a FA. Can’t run, can’t play the field, and a wRC+ of 78. A more Cheringtonesque player never existed.

If it wasn't for the fact Cutch was assured to sign for $5M as the DH, I think Eloy would be a perfect buy-low DH option.

I don't know who gets hurt more. Him or Luis Robert? I feel Eloy pulls a hammy getting up from the shitter.

Are you old enough to remember Jose Silva’s alarm clock?

It's not another MI, so that's a positive.

Malcom Nunez was coming back from a 2023 season where he only played 67 games/250 AB at AAA, so I gave him a pass. I also think that playing home games at Victory Field in Indy is a built-in negative for RH power hitters. The Power Alley in LC is 418' - can that be correct? At AA the Power Alley in LC is 365'. So, advance from AA to AAA and see a difference of 53' deeper in the power alley in LC?

To me, it only makes sense that Field dimensions for AA and AAA should closely reflect the distances those same hitters will see at their home field at the MLB level. Plus or minus 10 feet in any of the dimensions would be a reasonable expectancy.
