Morning Rundown: MiLB Preview - Week Ending 8/13
Prospect promotions headlining the week ahead
Indianapolis Indians: 17-15 (3.0 GB)
Opponent: Nashville (Brewers)
Team OPS: .804
OPS Rank: 10th of 20
Team ERA: 4.53
ERA Rank: 2nd of 20
Quick Overview:
The Milwaukee Brewers farm system has seen a big boost as of late from 2023 prospect success. One of those successes is 2021 Competitive Balance A round pick Tyler Black, who has recently found himself on the backend of Top 100 lists and was recently promoted in the last week from Double-A. Robert Gasser - who was part of a package return for Josh Hader - cracked the Baseball America Top 100. Unlikely, but not out of question, that two of the even bigger names in the Brewers system could find themselves donning a Nashville Sounds jersey in the near future: Jackson Chourio and Jeferson Quero. If catching a glimpse of former Bucco farmhands is your thing, then you can catch a glimpse of Patrick Dorrian and 2022 fan favorite, Josh VanMeter.

Quick Overview:
The Boston Red Sox have since promoted their top prospect Marcelo Mayer to Double-A, but the High-A Greenville Drive roster will still boast a couple high profiled draft picks. Leading the charge is 2022 2nd round compensation pick, Roman Anthony. Anthony was promoted after 42 games in Low-A with a .692 OPS, but has seen his stock rocket up after posting a 1.073 OPS in his first 34 High-A games. Joining Anthony in High-A will be the Red Sox 2023 first round draft pick (and currently unranked) Kyle Teel.

Quick Overview:
Last but not least is Low-A, where it’d appear we’re at the point in the season when higher ranked prospects have mostly moved on to better competition, or lists haven’t been updated to include new draft picks. The Minnesota Twins affiliate has two recent 2023 draft picks in 2nd round pick Luke Keaschall, 2B from Arizona State, and Jay Harry, 6th round pick SS from Penn State.
