Its 12-15 now pretty universally. usually they are on the mound at around 12 months, with then 2-3 months to be fully ready for action at the highest level. his surgery was a month later than Burrows and Brubaker, and both of them should be ready by the all star game at worst......so i would expect the same for him. Considering he isn't a starter, he should be on the low end of the required time, doesn't need to ramp up to 80-100 pitches
If Rocker’s surgery was a month later than Burrows and Brubaker, that puts his 15 months at mid August. With no setbacks. He may not miss all of this season, but he’s missing most of it. I’d guess, if he’s back and ok in August, he’s a good candidate for the AFL to pick up some innings.
Also, has it been said anywhere that Rocker is a reliever now?
I think it's generally 16 months for the standard TJS, sans no setbacks. The TJS that Strider, Ohtani and a few others received is a 12-month recovery.
There's wasn't a TJS, a TJS is a ligament replacement. Nothing else is a TJS. Its just additional support given to the ligament when damage isn't as bad
Hard not to like the setup we have at AAA. SP's Skenes, Priester, and Lauer getting prepped for MLB, and guys like Mlodzinski, Nicolas, Hernandez, Ryan, and Alldred in the BP. Franzua (Japan) getting to Close? The hitters of Nunez, Bae, Gonzales, Peguero, Celestino, and Smith-Njigba are MLB quality, and the Catching tandem is VG, also.
AA is also very strong with SP's Chandler, Solometo, Sullivan, Ashcraft and solid RP's in Junker, Linarez, Yean, Meis, and Dombkowski. Many of the position players are placeholders at best. If we are looking to solidify pitchers and players moving into MLB, I would exchange the infield of Altoona with the infield at Greensboro - Cheng, Pichardo, Glenn, and Dixon from AA to A+ and Brannigan, Johnson, Jebb, and McAdoo from A+ to AA.
Only watched the highlights or lowlights of the Pirate game last night. Seemed like a strong showing that went bad quickly. Old adage in baseball about trying to hide someone defensively - the ball will always find them! I like the bat and the glove of Connor Joe at 1B, but he leaves a lot to be desired as a RF. Edward Olivares is a RF with speed and a strong arm who has been hitting well for the Pirates, but he was sitting on the bench. Joe did not lose the game for the Pirates, but why that move to put him in RF? We also tried to get too much from a SP who seemed to have reached his limit and placement of his pitches. We have too many young and strong relievers to allow that to happen.
Joe is probably the best all around baseball player on the team, he just made a mistake that ended up being irrelevant since the next batter crushed a double and then chapman sucked the next inning. Joe is actually a better outfielder than Olivares based on advanced metrics
Granted, Connor Joe has become a very strong player for the Pirates since coming back from the Rockies.
Olivares bats RH and is supposedly the 4th OF for the Pirates. He is hitting very well for average and power - 308 AVG, 3 HR, 921 OPS. Joe bats RH and has been primarily a first baseman this year. He is hitting well - 286 AVG, 1 HR, 826 OPS. If those stats were switched, I would say that's the reason the Manager made that call, but that is not the case.
I dont think anyone ever said olivares is the 4th outfielder. If a righty is on the mound, expect joe in the outfield and olivares on the bench if a 4th outfielder is needed . If a lefty is pitching olivares will be out there most nights as Joe will be at 1st most nights. Its more like they are both outfielder 3.5 especially since jack is pretty much full platoon right now
Yeah, Joe is fine in RF. He thought the 1bmen was on the bag and he had an easy DP. problem is there was no one covering, and he tried to hold onto it, but spiked it and a run scored. I'm not going to beat him up too bad for that.
Why would kumar rocker be out for the year, he had TJ surgery last May
I guess it would depend on which end of the 12-18 months of recovery he falls on once he returns to the mound.

Kumar isn't a starter? Since when?

What exactly are you talking about?
Your OP states - Kumar had TJS last May
