Morning Rundown: Mitch Keller has strong final spring start, Pirates lose to Red Sox
Keller pitches three innings in final spring tune up
The Pittsburgh Pirates managed to register eight hits on the night but only pushed across one run, losing to the Boston Red Sox 2-1 on Friday.
Will Taylor hit an RBI single, scoring Mike Jarvis, representing their lone run of the game. Joey Bart and Tommy Pham each picked up two hits, with the latter getting the only one on the night to go for extra bases.
In his last start of the spring, Mitch Keller struck out five batters in three innings, allowing just one hit to Triston Casas.
Caleb Ferguson, David Bednar, and Dennis Santana pitched shutout innings out of the bullpen. Wilkin Ramos allowed his first two runs of the spring in the eighth inning, and ended up with the loss.
Pittsburgh now has three games left, with Saturday’s game the last at LECOM Park. Paul Skenes will throw for the final time, with an expected first pitch time of 1:05 pm ET.

A Will Taylor sighting - at least in the box score. Anyone had eyes on him at PC? I know he played WR at Clemson, so he should be pretty athletic out in the OF. Would love for something to click for him at the plate that would allow him to move through the system.
Also, hoping Suwinski’s play this spring is no mirage. From what I’ve heard/read about Hague, it seems that he is a coach who doesn’t ignore the mental side of hitting and tries to connect with the players on a personal level while working with them. If that is the case, maybe he can really help some guys who’ve shown in the past they can hit MLB pitching like a Suwinski.
Nice to see Bednar put up a zero!
