Prospects break your heart, amigo.

When I read an older list like this and think ppl want to roll with a roster of 20 prospects next year. You need that blend of prospects and vets. They need their AJ, Russ, Liriano, Grilli, etc.

Not the point of your post but man the whole "failed to get the most" schtick looks worse and worse as time passes. We're really just talking about two players, Cole and Glasnow. The rest of this is just typical attrition. No worse, nor any better, than probably 80% of the league.

That 2015 prospect list was every bit as good as the 2023 prospect list.

Glasnow was the biggest developmental flaw…at least Cole sans the 2 Houston years is basically getting the same value as he did in Pittsburgh, he’s just doing it differently. He’s also more durable.

I’m guessing if you were to have a candid off the record conversation with Huntington combined with some cocktails and you asked his biggest regret he’d say Tyler Glasnow. If you were to ask his 2nd biggest regret I’m guessing he’d say not adding enough at the 2013 & 2014 deadlines.

Per MLBTR, the Pads may be looking to slash payroll to reduce to the 200M range.

Maybe a trade for a legit CF like Grisham? He may be a decent buy low candidate. The cherry on top is it would infuriate the learned doctor who comments on this board.

buy low on Tatis to be our first baseman?

Meh i dont have much hope that he will be anything, but i hope he proves me wrong. Or I hope that he gets hot for a few games and we can flip him for something in the offseason

I hope he is part of the core team

Plays second, short and third

He has shown as many flashes as Peguero in 2023 from what I have seen

See no reason not to splot time with both of them even though they both bat right handed

I am not sure of the reasoning for Nick being sent down to AAA, but hitting was not the only issue. He is a "second baseman only" competing with at least 4 other prospects who have proven at the MLB level to be better at the 2B position while also being able to play other positions as needed. The standard defensive indicator favored by many is UZR/150. For our prospect second basemen in 2023, the UZR/150 numbers are - Triolo +23.2, Marcano +17.5, Peguero -1.3, Bae -19.4, and Gonzales -59.4.

Possibly BC showcasing Nick?

You need at least a full season to make any kind of judgement of defensive metrics.
