joe is 14-95 (.147) with RISP 31 K's

Anyone want a laugh, look at CJ transaction history

Traded 7-8 times

DFA 5-6

10 IL stints

Some how he has 2 options left

If someone takes the time to look, explain how this is possible

Was he so bad, they DFA, instead of using option

To me it looks like the pirates traded for his options to flip him but couldn't or decided not to move him

Either way he's in the way now

Tanked in Colorado, if you can't drive in runs there....

Roansy averaged under 92 with his fastball again on only 75 pitches.

To be fair, his changeup is so close to indistinguishable from his fastball that StatCast may have misclassified some.

What do you even do with his at this point.

Knuckleball. Obviously.

What to do with Oneil Cruz? How do the Bucs improve the team? It might be that he can no longer play SS or the Pirates prefer to move on. With enough hitting (Cruz, Reynolds, a much improved Hayes, Suwinski against righties, an improving Pegeuro and Endy) I think the Bucs can carry Williams, the only real shortstop they have. So Cruz moves to RF where his arm is a plus and he hopefully doesn't run into the same problems as Davis. Pegeuro plays second and Bae is the centerfielder. Is it possible to try Davis at 1st without bruising his psyche? I think we need one free agent pitcher and would like to go after Jordan Montgomeery. Is that realistic? He made $10 million this year.

I'm trying to follow, Reynolds, Hayes and Endy are only starters at their normal position

Your moving

SS Peguero to 2nd base

2nd baseman Bae to CF

CF Suwinski to BENCH

SS Cruz to RF

RF Davis to 1st Base

RF Palacios to BENCH

All that to keep AW in the line up?

You must be really high on him or just really high, lol

He's not are only true SS, but agree at this time he is the best def SS in the system

All joking aside, I like him but he's not the Wizard, I not sure he's Clint Barmes

He's more sure handed than Peggy, but doesn't have the range or arm

Peguero is on a mission and only getting better

No one on the 40 can do what OC does on certain plays, however his build works against him when charging slow grounders low to the ground and his arm at times gets the YIPS

Def of YIP--when a baseball is hit to you at a high rate of speed, giving you time to think while double pumping before scattering the dugout staff around the gatorade coolers

I watched the short lived experiment in LF that ended after a couple misplays and bad drops

over 3-4 starts

Really was kind of insubordinate, but they didn't push the envelope because he looked worse than Henry. I will give him credit, he took that experience as "hey OC your defense is playing you off of SS. In fact if Peggy was playing at the level he is now, Cruz might be DH or at 1B

where i think he ends up eventually, i don't care about wasting his arm, as there is nothing to waste if you can't hit the target

Cruz was a 3B when arrived here but moved off the hot corner because of errors

most of them throwing

Ive watched MILB as much or more than the Pirates last couple years so TTFWIW

Henry Davis was not good when catching in the AFL last October

On scale of 1-10, maybe 5, this year in the minors 7 improved alot

Here some stats .216/.294/.441/.738

91 G

12 E

8 PB

13 CS / 90 SB

2 TIME #1 prospect of the year

FRANCISCO ALVEREZ- FULL TIME BACKSTOP

Probably one of the reasons, Mets have same record as the Bucs

Henry can improve enough to Catch 2 days a week

I hope they understand if the ever need to slug it out, they cannot have

zero clutch Joe, inconsistant BELOW average to bad Delay,

and lastly the 27th 28th ...SEE YA Williams, Capra

I see no need for Williams with Peguero around. OAA has Peguero at +1, Williams at -1.

Peguero has become the player we hoped he would become when the trade sending Starling Marte to the Dbacks went down. No reason to keep Alika Williams when Cruz, Peguero, Bae, and Triolo are where we need to be in 2024. Gotta like the season's from Reynolds, Hayes, 'Cutch, and Joe. And the non-veteran 20-20 guy Jack Suwinski should continue to improve.

Expand full comment

I mean I think we hope he'd be at least an average hitter, but the offense still shows potential and the defense has really come around.

Expand full comment

shortstop is the only position that Alika plays? if so, Triolo is the supirior fielding first utility infielder and he should be getting more reps at short right now

Expand full comment

Just put Peguero there. Triolo can't hit.

Expand full comment

that´s the point though

Triolo hits better than Alika and he can play multiple positions

We know Triolo has elite defense at third but we do not know what he can do in the field at shortstop

I wonder what it would take to pry edward cabrera from the fish? Maybe we could do a former top prospect swap of giving nick plus some, cabrera's got the stuff but cant stay in the zone and i believe has 3 years of control left and the fish desperately need some bats with their current players not leaving the highest bar to clear

Expand full comment

In all likelihood, it may not be the best match. It’s not like the Bucs are flush with young bats and they can spare one. They’d prolly want someone like Hank.

You're probably right. I think it would be a good swap for some team to pursue, but we don't have the bodies that make the most sense unfortunately

Honestly, I’m not sure what’s out there for arms. Singer might be a decent buy low candidate in KC since he’s entering arb years.

Expand full comment

Singer is a decent option, skubal could also be a pipe dream but i assume the tigers are planning to turn things around so he would be pretty pricy

Expand full comment

Skubal is prolly way too expensive. If they absolutely aim high for an arm on a rebuilding team, go for Cease.

Tough situation for Oneil Cruz and the Pirates. It will be interesting to see if the Pirates give their authorization for him to play in the DWL. My hope is that they do not and that his off-season is filled with getting physically prepared for ST 2024. He's behind schedule in his rehab and no need to rush anything at this point.

Tough decision for Top Hitter in the AAA game, with Gorski and Gonzales both having HR's and doubles in the game but Gorski gets the edge with 2 RBI to Gonzo's 1 RBI. And, the complete opposite in AA with the Curve only getting 3 hits, but Connor Scott had an RBI with his hit. Still waiting for Scott to get it all together with the bat. Still only 23, but much more improvement was expected this year repeating AA.
