Glad they won. Watched a little of the replay - David Bednar deserved a helluva lot better than what the Pirates gave him in the 4th inning. Our MI of Frazier at 2B and NG at SS gave a clinic on how not to play MI. Frazier is not the same second baseman who played for the Pirates at 2B from 2016 to 2021 - at 33 he has lost a step or two, and signing him as a FA was a terrible decision. NG's range is good for second base, but not SS. Triolo, Peguero, Cheng maybe at SS.
Great diving catch by Jack Suwinski going far to his right into RC field to make the catch of a line drive in that 4th inning. Earlier in the inning Frazier misplayed a popup in short RC. It was his ball, but his route took him into CF and the ball dropped about 10 feet from him in RC. Just not good baseball.
Hired 4 Scouts in the past month? Scouts can provide a lot of information - not only in the future, but a lot of valuable info between their ears regarding players from teams they have just left or with whom they were recently associated. Those 4 have recent experience with the Rangers, Marlins, Cubs, Baltimore, and International Players/Caribbean.
Many of us have been waiting for the inevitable - TRADES involving some of our excess young starting pitching for position players/hitters. For instance, Braxton Ashcraft was bumped up our ranks by Fangraphs from our 6th Best Prospect in 2024 to our 2nd Best Prospect behind only Bubba Chandler. Carlson Reed went from not listed in the Top 40 in 2024 to 16th in 2025. Mike Burrows was a No. 5 in 2024, but missed almost all of 2024 injured.
Our CEO and owner are pros, they just only care about pro-fits. Forbes has them as 3rd most profitable--that's a huge win for what Nutting and Williams care about!
After reading the following article, I think Williams deserves every bit as much blame as does Nutting, and I have little hope that we'll contend unless somehow we luck into a _brilliant_ GM, and that's not how I think of Cherington even when I'm being charitable.
How the heck do the Orioles keep losing to us?
1. Spring Training.
2. Baseball
3. Pirates and Orioles aren’t that different from each other in talent.

The Frazier signing was a totally needless transaction.
Great to add pro scouts. Now we just need a pro owner, pro CEO, pro GM and pro manager.
A few more pro players as well.
Need pro $ for that

I read that piece. There’s something hopefully a lot more insightful coming out at DKPS next week.
Looking forward to it.
Lots of ground to be gained by adding pro scouts.
