Nice to see the FCL Pirates win last night, and go into the final regular season game Thursday with a strong chance to make the Playoffs. And, the Top 3 or 4 in the order did not win it for them. Strong pitching by 4 different pitchers, giving up only 4 hits and 3 BB to win 2-1.
So all of the signings this week have come in at a total of 180k underslot, or near there. I’m guessing Sterling and Sanford are likely to be the overslot guys?
Berg had option to start military career. He can delay the start if he signs professional contract so if the Pirates liked his skills plus as graduate of West Point his leadership is maybe something they value
Not sure how all of the others had Sterling rated, but he was projected by BA as the #54 pick and the Pirates selected him at #37. Last year the difference between #37 and #54 was about $1+ mil. As a pitcher who will not turn 18 until later in the year, he may have some leverage, but not much.
Sanford was the opposite, but to a lesser degree - projected by BA at #42, drafted at #47. As a soon-to-turn-19 year old MI, it is difficult to see him having any leverage with the Pirates.
All high school players signed to big colleges with very good baseball programs (LSU, Ta&m and Texas) have leverage. Smaller schools not as much but some leverage (Kent St. and Western Kentucky).
With Sanford's commitment being to Texas A&M I would not be so sure. They have more NIL money than any other university in the country. If they guarantee him say 1 million and him being eligible for the 2026 draft because of age he could get paid twice. But with the coach at A&M leaving we shall see if his commitment holds.
5150, I mean 51-50
Hahahahaha!! Send us all away to the funny farm!!

22 whiffs for German---what was working for him?
Weird game. Overall stat line wasn’t the best, allowed 4 earned in 5. Only 6 K. I’ll have to go back and watch to watch.
Possibly 5 MLB clubs looking for pitching down the stretch are kicking themselves for not claiming him last week.
No they’re not.

Weird back end of the top 10, very little savings.

I was actually thinking it was likely for the HS kid from Wisconsin. They probably get him up closer to 1 mill.
