Morning Rundown: Pirates blow late lead, lose to the Braves
Braves score four in the ninth to win against Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped their game on Saturday, losing to the Atlanta Braves 5-4 after blowing a late lead in the ninth.
Mike Burrows got the start for the Pirates, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out two over two innings pitched.
Trailing 2-0, Andrew McCutchen and Endy Rodriguez hit RBI singles in the third inning, tying things up. Jack Suwinski gave the Pirates the lead with a RBI double in the fourth inning before Bryan Reynolds extended things out with a run scoring groundout.
Matt Gorski gave the Pirates a 5-2 lead with a RBI single in the eighth inning.
Jaden Woods entered in the ninth and allowed four runs on four hits and a walk, recording just one out.
Jared Triolo had a great night, going 3-3 with two runs and a triple. McCutchen drew a pair of walks along with his RBI single. DJ Stewart continues his strong spring, going 2-3 with a strikeout and stolen base.
Bryce Johnson also hit a double in his two at-bats.
On the pitching side, David Bednar and Colin Holderman allowed a hit and struck out a batter in their innings. Tim Mayza struck out a pair and Ryan Borucki tossed a shutout inning.
The Pirates will play the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. Andrew Heaney will make his second appearance with the team and will face Tarik Skubal.
