Hate to be defeatist, but I’ll take two out of three from the Braves with no Skenes or Jones.

Saturday, May 25

25 down. 56 to go.

Pirates win 4-1 over the Braves dancing between the raindrops with strong pitching.

They stand in 4th place, one half game behind the streaking Cardinals in 3rd and six games back of the Brewers. The Pirates are 6-4 over their last ten games and beginning to gel.

Just returning from a funeral in Pittsburgh and it was truly ups and downs with the Pirates while we were there. Cried in our beers at the Regina Elena Club in Sharpsburg Thursday night watching the Pirates surrender a big lead, and then celebration Friday night at the Sports Grille (++) in Cranberry watching the Pirates beat up the Braves. Bailey Falter is announcing his presence with authority!

Missed the game yesterday driving back to Tennessee but glad to see that Mitch Keller pitched well and the "Rookies" continue to spark the offense. I was a non-believer in Nick Gonzales, but he seems to have found "it" this year leading the team since his promotion (.902 OPS), and Triolo and Bae have played well also. It would be nice to see the Pirates sweep the Bravo's today!

Today we face Chris Sale, I cant think of a more curious 2024 success story though im sure they exist...What a facinating career, battling Eovaldi, for guys who surprise tedwins past few years....🤔🤷‍♂️🤔🤷‍♂️

McAdoo looks like a prospect. Is ha a real breakout player?

I think he has a real chance of at least being an above average utility player. I had him as an anytime after round 6 pick in last year's draft and was surprised we got him in round 13. Position wise I think he can fake it anywhere except short and catcher, probably wouldn't want him in center much either but would pass for an emergency situation.

He reminds me of Harrison without the excitement lol.

Makes one wonder how a kid who ripped up the wood bat Northwoods League during the Summer of 2022, then had a strong season before last year's amateur draft, is still there for $150K in the 13th Round! Great pick by the "Master" of the wood bat leagues, BC!

Hit for .922 OPS at A last year with 9 EBH incl 5 HR in less than 100 AB and exc BB 14.9%/K 19.3%. This year at A+ he has not skipped a beat - 17 EBH in 145 AB with 6 HR and 8 of 9 SB. Not sure where he will play defensively, but he has seen 26 games at 3B (.982) and 4 games at 1B (1.000) at A+. Definitely a prospect who hit the ground running and has not slowed down.

Not sure who is at 3B or 1B in AA, but he could probably take the same bus to Altoona that Brannigan and Johnson will ride sometime in June.

He might get there before them. He should be promoted soon, doesn't really have anything to prove in A ball.

Agree, and I see nothing at AA at 1B or 3B that would keep him from being a regular if he continues to hit. It's the Peter Principle of Baseball - keep rising over each level until you reach your own level of "incompetence" or where you can no longer hit for an 800 or better OPS immediately.
