The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped the second to last Spring Training game on Sunday, losing to the New York Yankees 1-0.

I'm guessing kinda like Kuhl when he first came up.
Lots and lots of 5 inning starts, with alternating 3 earned runs and 2 earned runs. High walks. More pitch to contact than Kman.
Lots of homers and walks. How they're sequenced will be the difference between good and bad starts.
Yep. He won't be getting lucky when they count with these leadoff walks that are followed up with a gidp.
I don't see much resemblance to max-effort Kuhl. Jones has a better arm and better FB and better slider. But 5 IP would be good for starters.
Kuhl did average 96.6 on his FB during the year he posted 2.2. That's not too far off what Jones will do.
I'm strictly speaking of his stat line.
Kuhl did put up a 2.2 fWAR in 31 starts.
You take the over or under on Jones getting 2.2 wins above replacement?
Probably will temper them and allow a few starts before I expect his first perfect game
Will be sad if jones doesnt make the team and falter does

I actually watched him pitch (Mexico Red Devils) vs the Yankees split squad yesterday. Looked very good. He's blackballed and will never pitch in MLB again.
Haven't seen Ortiz pitch since 3/15, kinda odd. Getting backfield work isn't the same.
