The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped the second to last Spring Training game on Sunday, losing to the New York Yankees 1-0.
Martin Perez finished his Spring strong, pitching three shutout innings, allowing a hit and two walks while striking out three. He finished Spring with a 0.60 ERA.
His opposition on the mound, Marcus Stroman, pitched six shutout innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out five.
No other team has more home runs this Spring than the Pirates, but they were held off the board Sunday with just five hits - only one of which went for extra bases.
David Bednar made his second appearance of the Spring, allowing one run in his only inning of work. Aroldis Chapman, Isaac Mattson, Kade McClure, and Austin Strickland pitched in the game.
The Pirates wrap up their Spring schedule with a game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Marco Gonzales is the expected starter, and he will face Kevin Gausman.

Sunday we found out that the illness that Colin Holderman dealt with was a lot rougher on him then originally realized. According to a tweet by Jason Mackey, Holderman lost about 15 pounds and ended up in the hospital.
While the bullpen was looked at as the team’s strength, the injury bug has really caught up to them already.
I’ll have more on that later today, including how this could impact some of the non-roster and fringe guys.
