Morning Rundown: Pirates game postponned, doubleheader Saturday, Brannigan homers in Grasshoppers win
Pirates will play two on Saturday, Jack Brannigan has big day at the plate
The Friday game between the Washington Nationals and Pittsburgh Pirates was postponed and will instead be played as a doubleheader on Saturday.
Luis Ortiz will pitch game one, with Mitch Keller following him in the second.
A big second inning propelled the Pirates to a win on Thursday and could clinch the four-game set with a pair of wins on Saturday.
Despite a two-hit, two-walk effort from Billy Cook, the Indianapolis Indians fell to the Toledo Mud Hens 13-9 on Friday.
Luis Cessa started and allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits and a walk across four innings pitched.
The offense came around late, scoring eight runs in the ninth inning.
It was his seventh multi-hit game for Cook since joining the Pirates organization and the fourth time he’s gone deep.
Anthony Solometo could not build off his last start, failing to make it out of the second inning while allowing six runs on six hits. This season, he has a 1-7 record with a 6.37 ERA with Altoona.
Termarr Johnson picked up his first multi-hit in Double-A, one of which was a double. It was his first double and second extra-base hit.
Jack Brannigan helped spark the offense out of the lead-off spot for the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Friday.
He collected three hits, two doubles, and his 18th home run of the season to help fuel their 4-3 win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The win also guaranteed at least a series split this week as well.
Greensboro made the offense count, as Brannigan accounted for half of their six hits on the night, with Hudson Head and Josiah Sightler driving in back-to-back runs in the sixth inning to give them the lead.

Nice to see Termarr picking up a multi-hit game. I had just glanced at his stat line and it looked pretty rough, albeit a small sample size. Hopefully this gets him going the rest of the way.
