Incredible. I follow the Nats because I lived in DC for almost 25 years before moving out of the area last year. His big league debut last year was not impressive, but nothing like this. It will be interesting to see fi they send him down (see Jackson Holliday last year) or whether they try to let him ride it out in the majors.
The pirates are eligible for the lottery and I don't think they'll make the playoffs, so it might take some luck. In my opinion they'll have been luckier this year if they make the playoffs.
Is that clip of Mueth from this spring, and if so, does he look more vertical to you? I'm remembering near-side arm from him in the past with a more severe crossfire delivery. Maybe just a long winter for my memory?
This was kinda gratifying. I’ve always liked Curtis and Castillo looked sharper to me this spring. And RR better not be stuck in the complex all year.
Ridiculous that both of these drafted Catchers will be in A ball as 23 year olds, and a 19 year old who exhibited some VG tools in the FCL in 2024 will have to repeat that level. Ramirez is going to be losing a lot of developmental time at a more challenging level with players he competed equally with in the FCL last year. One of these guys did not even rate an evaluation by BA! This has hair all over it!
I just saw where McCutchen is taking grounders at 1st base. 7 games into the season?? A position that he has never played.38 yrs old…. What a DAMN joke. Only the Bucs
I saw Tommy Pham taking grounders at short when I was there during spring training. Knew that wasn't happening. Probably just wanted to jump in to kill some time. I doubt it happens unless something else happens that forces their hand. Even then I doubt it happens.
Could be that one game where you use PHs late and you need to field a defense after getting a lead and can use him at 1B that one ime. Most likely not happening but you prepare just in case. I call it ensurance. If you prepare fore the low chance scenario it ensures that you won’t ever need it. If you don’t do the prep work it ensures that the scenario presents itself more than once and you are not prepared for it.
Maybe they are trying to build a fire under Triolo? As good as it gets with the glove at every infield position, but he has to be able to hit better than the Mendoza line. Hit for a .216 Batting Average in 2024 in 446 Plate Appearances, and I think he is off to a 1 for 9 with the bat in 2025.
Dylan Crews is 0-19 with a 53% k-rate
Take the bat, it's safer.
Appears Littlefield got that one right.
Could you imagine the natives right now if he selected Crews 1-1?
This MFer would be burnt to the ground.
Andy Haines would be tied to the middle of the rotunda and stoned with full cans of IC light

hitter dev is really, reallllyyyyy hard.
the hardest thing to do in sports is hitting a round ball with a round bat.
And that's why we now have torpedo bats!

Konner Griffin greeting his former and hopefully future teammate at home after the youngster hit a no doubter.

If "hopefully future teammate", then we need to root for us ending up in the lottery again, right?

Indy held Cassie, Alcantara, and Triantos to 2-11 with 5 Ks in Bubba's game and still gave up 7 runs?
Baseball be baseballing sometimes
Beat Em Bucs!!!!
Baseball America with a '50 more prospects scouts were raving about' during spring. Konnor Griffin were mentioned in the first article.
Richard Ramirez, Khristian Curtis, Mueth, and Carlos Castillo all mentioned in the follow up article
Haven’t listened yet, but BA has a pod up on prospects they’re eyeballing. They have a segment on Griffin.
I listened to that one, good episode but not too much new info on KG

yeah okay am I just really bad at video? the delivery in that BA clip looks completely different to my eye than this last year:

I can see it a bit
kid looks really clean this year. i'm back on the train, baby!

It’s the best feeling when a national media outlet reaffirms something you’ve been saying.
And I have to feel Rich Ramirez plays his way out of the complex at some point this year

Anthony, Are you sure the national media outlets aren't stealing their information from you?
A feedback loop!

HEY... respects to the memory of Wilver Dornell Stargell, mister.

The vision of Phamine at short is . . . deeply disturbing.
Apart from that, I’m starting to like IKF a little more.
84th percentile in OAA.
I'd love him if he were playing 2B right now.
Right on with IKF. Dude has been picking it so far.
Mr. Swingateverything last year must have had a talk with Cutch.
He said he wasn’t going to play there.
Yeah, yeah, but if I could do something to keep my bat in the lineup every day, I'd stick a waffle on my left hand and go stand over there.
Would LOVE to see Cutch at first. It's baseball. Hell we all played everywhere in the sandlot.
