Pirates drop second straight agianst Royals, Palacios has big day with Indy, Altoona plays last game of season on Sunday

The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped game two of their three-game set against the Kansas City Royals and will have to win on Sunday to avoid a sweep.

Mitch Keller allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and a walk in six innings pitched, striking out six.

Jared Triolo reached base four times (two hits, two walks), and Bryan Reynolds had a multi-hit day. Andrew McCutchen hit a double, his 17th of the season.

With an RBI on Saturday, Oneil Cruz has 74 on the season. The Pirates will wrap up their final home weekend series with Jared Jones on the mound trying to avoid the sweep.

The winning streak for the Indianapolis Indians ended at six after losing on Saturday. That didn’t prevent Joshua Palacios from having another good game, as he went 3-4 with three RBI, two walks, a double, and a home run.

He’s on a six-game hitting streak, during which he’s registered 12 hits. He also has four games in September where he has picked up at least three hits.

Luis Cessa returned off the development list to pitch 5.1 innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out five.
