Pirates swept for third straight series, losing streak moves to 10 games
The Pittsburgh Pirates' losing streak has reached 10 games after they lost 8-2 to the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. That also completes a third straight series sweep, two of which have come by the Padres.
Mitch Keller struggled for his second straight start and has allowed 15 earned runs in his last nine innings pitched. Domingo German pitched for the second time as a Pirate, tossing a pair of shutout innings.
Joey Bart had a pair of hits, including his 11th home run of the season. Bryan De La Cruz also had two hits, both singles.
Pitching against his former team, Martin Perez allowed a run on five hits and a walk across 5.1 innings while striking out eight batters.
Michael Kennedy tossed another strong outing since returning from the injured list. The only hit he allowed in his last start was a home run to Starling Marte, and he tossed five shutout innings this time.
He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out four. In the three games since returning from the injured list, he has allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks across 13 innings pitched, striking out 14.
Jhonny Severino continues his fantastic start to his Bradenton career, picking up another two hits, a double, and a home run while also drawing a walk. He has a .916 OPS during his time in Single-A.
Another 2024 draft pick, Andrew Patrick, made his professional debut on Wednesday, going 0-2 with two walks and two strikeouts.
Nick Yorke made up for not getting a hit for the first time with Indianapolis on Tuesday, collecting three this time around. The Indianapolis Indians scored six unanswered runs, including two in the bottom of the ninth, to come back and beat the St. Paul Saints.
Henry Davis chipped in a pair of hits, going 2-5 with a double, two RBI, and three strikeouts.
On another rehab start, Jared Jones had a bit of a rough game, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk over 3.1 innings pitched. He gave up multiple extra-base hits, but most weren’t hit very hard and were more of the bloop variety.

Anybody remember Evan Chambers, Pirate prospect who died at 24? His little nephew was here throwing out the first pitch.
