Pirates lose again, make roster moves before game

Paul Skenes allowed two runs over five innings, but the offense fell silent again, as the Pirates lost their seventh straight game.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa gave the Pirates a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, but the Twins rallied back with a Trevor Larnach two-run home run in the bottom of the frame.

Joe Ryan allowed one run on five hits and two walks, striking out five over five innings pitched, picking up his ninth win of the season.

The Pirates now drop to 38-57 with two games left until the All-Star break.

Mike Burrows will start on Saturday, with a 2:10 pm ET scheduled start time.

Before the game, the Pirates optioned Jared Triolo to Triple-A Indianapolis. He’s struggled this season, being one of the worst hitters in baseball. Triolo has hit .158/.253/.266 with three home runs this season.

He won the utility Gold Glove last year.

This move made room on the active roster for RHP Yohan Ramirez, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday. He had a 3.19 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 31 IP in the minors this season.

Matt Gorski, who is on the injured list, was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
