Sad to hear the new times. I liked the 0600, especially when games are played the night before. With it being a ST Schedule, those new times probably make more sense for most of the folks on the Board.
It's about time to get the clubs out again, and looking forward to some reasonably warm weather in East TN. Played for about a month and then Winter came back with a vengeance.
I may toy with the Gameday and feature, but generally like to have that up a couple hours before first pitch. So spring is tricky with mostly day games
It sure did here in SC too. Fruit trees and bushes blooming. Hoping this is the last hard frost. Been looking at land in Greeneville and the surrounding area. May have to go for a little road trip.
To lose a player in the _minor league_ portion of the Rule 5 who then strikes out 118 in 86.1 innings isn't great. EL says Cruz looked more athletic last summer and added a couple of ticks in velo with the move to the pen.
IKF will be the starting SS. I have Peguero as the 28th man behind Yorke and Cook. He has 1 option to the minors left. Alika would need an injury to IKF and perhaps someone else.
I’m really rooting for Peguero. I still think he has the upside of a 2-3 WAR starter. I’d rather see him and Yorke or Cook on the team than Adam Frazier. But……..
I liked the trade (BC's First with the Pirates) and I thought Peguero did as well or better than anyone else after the injury cost us Oneil Cruz in 2023. A .654 OPS, 960 Fld % at SS in 39 G, 1.000 Fld % in 33 G at 2B. VG stuff for a 22 year old. At ST in 2024 he hit for a 768 OPS, with a double and HR in 26 AB, 3 BB/4 K. IMO, those were good enough numbers to put him at 2B opposite Cruz, and also give him games at SS while Cruz could take a few games off as he played and continued to rehab to get to full strength.
We passed on that approach to strengthen the IF for the future, and are now in another situation where our SS is a lame duck going into this year. With the strength of our pitching I thought this would be a good year to get these kids like Peguero and Yorke onto the 26. For Cook, I give up on what the Pirates want to do at 1B or RF, but the EBH's he posted after the trade - he's got value.
Can’t have real baseball without a month of fake baseball first.
This ST, I’m looking forward to seeing Chandler, Harrington, Burrows, and Ashcraft pitch. With the bat, I want to see Cook and York fight it out for a roster spot.
The in-game interviews are nice, along with seeing some of the prospects as you say. Plus, we can look forward to Brown telling us how there is just a different vibe this year! That might actually be true, with Skenes now as the face of the franchise.
Wonder if they tried to get him to ditch the windup with the Bucs but wouldn’t do it. Padres may have tried their first go around too and it took him being moved again to finally listen. Like you, I hope he succeeds .

Thank you, I misunderstood.

Does Omar still have that unorthodox wind up? He was the definition of a funky lefty.
He ditched it all and was pitching out the stretch. Sucked to see but if it helps him succeed, go for it lol

He had started to tame it down a bit before he left the system. Not as much movement.
If he had stuck around I’d imagine the stretch would have been the next step
